"Chicago Tony" LaPiana, the reputed Detroit mob underboss, sold his U.S Health & Life Insurance Co. to Ascension Health for a GINORMOUS PAYDAY a few years back. Ascension is backed by the Catholic Church. The whole shady seal got ZERO scrutiny from the media (except for me obviously lol), per usual in Detroit.

Jesus... this could have been avoided if they hadnt forgotten a fuckin EPIPEN? if thats the case, the settlement amount is definitely warranted to say the least

also I know its totally different but this isnt the first Detroit mob family to get double digit millions from the health care system. Didnt another Detroit guy have a medical billing company or something that he sold to a healthcare system network for 8 figures?

You hit the nail on the head. Couldn’t have said it any better. Terrible tragedy...and the family has to watch this daily. Reminiscent of some of the Kennedy family tragedies. Many will say it’s Karma for all the lives they’ve harmed over decades. At the end of the day, he is still human who has dedicated his life to helping care for his daughter. A real shame.

This is not incredibly unusual in the Detroit area. In 1988 Joseph Giacalone(Jackie's cousin and Anthony Giacalone's son) got $40 million from the city of Detroit for some land and equipment that they owned in order to make way for an add on to the Chrysler plant that was next to it. But subsequent auditing showed it was all worth less than $2 million. So a $38 million profit in 1988 dollars. And there was only a passing mention that Joseph Giacalone was mobbed up. I mean it's assumed that Hoffa was taken away in Joseph's car in 1975, and that didn't even enter into any of the articles about this massive waste of tax payer money. But that's what Detroit is like when it comes to mob stuff. I used to share information with a former Detroit Free Press journalist and he told me about specific times when he was told to drop Jack Tocco's name from stories because the editor didn't deem it relevant.
That’s interesting. Chicago basically had a cottage industry within local journalism covering mob stories. Even in more recent years we have Chuck Goudie and the “I-Team” harassing DiFronzo etc.

Incidentally, I believe that Goudie is originally from Detroit.
Well if your going to have crime in your city...

One old timer once told me...and he spoke from his own experience...that karma is not something supernatural but instead its some type of domino effect which sooner or much later returns to you like a boomerang in a negative or positive manner, depending on what type of move you made that started the whole reaction or saga

Chris Christie wrote: Sun Apr 11, 2021 5:58 pm According to Scott, Giacalone's wife has openly told him that she blames him for it and that what happened to their daughter is karma for the life he lived.
Wow if that is true , if so thats one mean low IQ lady . I also found people that say shit like that are really talking about themselves so maybe that’s the case ?

Jackie has been in a deep depression since this happened - he's taken this very, very hard. Its incredibly tragic, obviously. I knew Chantel. Not well, but i knew her and i was close friends with some of her close friends. Between Feb 2012 and March 2013, Jackie lost his dad (Billy Jack), his best friend, top adviser/biggest earner (Fat Allen) and his daughter for all intents and purposes. The last 8-9 years have not been kind to him, despite him becoming boss.

He's in Merlino/Solly D mode, removed from day-to-day affairs, takes pieces of everyone's rackets but stays away. Pete Tocco and Tony Lop run things day to day. They headquarter down the street from each other in Birmingham, Lop at his restaurant and PT at the cigar shop at the corner. PT meets with Jackie every Tue and Thu morning at The Stage Deli in West Bloomfield.

AND YES, NOT A SINGLE MEDIA OUTLET MADE THE CONNECTION AND THE DETROIT MEDIA DIDNT REPORT A SINGLE THING ABOUT ANY OF IT!!!

I've stayed away from reporting on this particular aspect of Jackie's life. I hope Chantel finds peace.

Fuck man, talk about a horrible situation... I imagine if Jackie sits there and is tortured in his own mind thinking If this is somehow some fucked up karma for the life he has led.. I couldn’t imagine being the parents..

My aunt who was perfectly healthy, randomly at the age of 33 had some weird health problems that started to affect her memory and her motor skills.. a few months later she was diagnosed with progressive ms. Within a few years she was wheelchair bound and not long after she lost all speech/ communication... so for the last like 25 years she was confined to a recliner chair in my grandmas living room, not being able to say a word or communicate anything, my grandma had to change her diapers and feed her strictly blended liquid meals with one of those big liquid syringes... last year I moved in with my grandma to help her since she was 87 and could no longer drive, within a few months of me being there my aunt got fluid in her lungs, took her to the hospital, she was there for about a week until the doctors said she was too weak to do surgery on to get a feeding tube, so my grabdma decided to take her back home, where hospice came and dropped off liquid morphine and liquid ativan.. I was in charge of administering her the meds.. after about 4 days one evening I was giving her meds, gave her the liquid ativan, then was preparing the liquid morphine right in front of her, and standing like 6 inches away from her I saw her take her last breath... pretty fucked up... but I think living in a vegetative state for over 20 years is even worse...

My prayers go out to the giacalone family..
