Philly member Michele Maggio killed his son and wife for having an affair together. It was his second wife, not the son's mother, but she was the mother of his other sons, including future member Peter Maggio. Michele Maggio was charged but not convicted as it was felt it was a justified response to the depravity.
Never heard of the Gambino example, but it's a similar situation.
