How many 20-30 year olds do u know (whether in the mob or not) are walking around in three piece suits and fedoras listening to Sinatra these days? People are overall more casual these days. Considering these guys don’t really have 9-5 office jobs they are going to be very casual. Hell I work for a bank but the first thing I do when I get home is put on sweats 😂.
You know who started that shit? The transition from a suit and tie, trench coat and fedora, black shoes, dress slacks, cuffed sleeves, pocket hanky, over to a fucking tee shirt, baggy jeans and sneakers? The Count. John Digilio. I once saw him at a open air concert uptown where he was sitting on a bench and he was dressed in shorts and some flowery looking Hawaiian short sleeve shirt. It was september! Had the scraggly stache, hairy patches on his cheeks and a mullet before it became hip. he looked like a fucking hippie man. All the guys around that era Prisco and them all followed the same look. Real hoods. Stickball kids dress like that. With the open shirt and the chains. I tell ya it all turned to shit once adonis got deported. That piece a shit charlie salzano? One time I seen him wearing this nice alpaca sweater, leather kangol like the mulinyan wore back then, and hes contrasting it with jeans and a pair of pro keds. No shit! Fucking loser. Hes burning in hell just for that. And just so you know for the historical record that was'nt no diversion tactic neither. To throw the federales off the stench. They just had no class or knew fashion from what. Fuck em.

There's been an entire change in culture. Families used to get dressed up on Saturdays go out, now we're lucky if they don't go out wearing pajama pants.
And we KNOW who started that shit dont we?

Basically, and maybe to better understand the purpose of this post, do you think that LCN will eventually get as Camorra? In terms of what has been discussed.

I'd have to go back to confirm but I got mid-70s for the Genovese, who had the oldest members on average. The youngest were the Bonannos, with an average age in the mid-60s. Either way it's up there. My guess is, if you were to chart it out, you'd see a statistical tail of members in their 40s and 50s on the left, the curve upward of members on their 60s and 70s, and then another tail on the right of members on their 80s and 90s.

Colombo/LA associate Kenji Gallo's in with OC was his porn industry contacts and ability to get guys laid. When Teddy Persico first got out they had a limo with a porn star inside, courtesy of the Kenji. He once told me a story that mob wear is slacks and tennis shoes however he was going to meet some Colombo affiliates (made/assoc?) who were going to meet some women one night and when he met them noticed they had on gold rings, bracelets, necklace visable in an open button up etc, which was funny to him because they usually didn't dress that way. Take of that what you will.

During the Taccetta-Acceturo NJ trial of 1988(?) which the film Find Me Guilty was based on, the book "Boys from NJ" written by one of the defendant lawyers stated that in the beginning of the trial you couldn't distinguish LCN members from their attorneys due to their clothing but as time went on they began dressing more casual while the lawyers stayed suited.

Wiseguy wrote: Wed Dec 04, 2019 3:21 pm Look at survellance pics of mob guys. Sure, sometimes tracksuits and hoodies. But more often slacks or jeans and a shirt. Noticeable tattoos seem relatively rare but more common than earrings. I can't think of another example besides Lucibello in one photo.

The average mob member is in his 60s or 70s. I don't think they are listening to rap.
I disagree most of the surveillance I see shows tracksuits and hoodys. Even Nicky corozzo was wearing a tracksuit when he turned himself in. The photos showing nicer clothes are older pictures. Where do you get that the average mob guy is in their 60’s or 70’s? There are a ton of guys in their 40’s and 50’s I don’t see how the average would be 60’s or 70’s. Did you do an actual calculation or you just throwing out numbers? And actually many have tattoos even John gotti had a tattoo
When do I just "throw out" numbers? You can look at the charts on here, which provide more than a large enough sample size, and average out the ages. In fact, I did that a few years ago. The average age for the NY families was 60's to 70s's. I doubt Chicago is any different.

Also, I said noticeable tattoos.

And Corozzo was wearing a track suit in both his 1996 and 2008 arrests. Probably because it's the most comfortable thing to wear when heading to jail. Doesnt mean he wears them all the time.

What I wanted to speculate with you guys was the direction of the members and associates of today. The younger generation of LCN probably are between 20 and 30, and I suppose that they were very influenced by whatever influences people growing up (TV, movies, music, etc). The trend nowadays, especially for crooks, is being all tatted up, earrings, etc as I stated in the original post.

The difference between the guys from 1950 - 1980 to the guys of the 90s is clear (per example). So I guess that it would be normal to start to see wiseguys, although probably still unknown, similar to these lame rap artists and instagram personalities.
If you're talking made guys, the "younger generation" is going to be more like 30s and 40s.
Made guys and associates.

No reason to wear a suit unless they're going to a wedding, funeral, court, etc.

that's why I am asking! because all the 20 or 30 years old guys that I know have a very different mindset.

They'll all be in Jail before they turn 40 so it doesn't matter what they wear. Their main attire for life will be an Orange Jumpsuit.

Back in the days even some oldtimers were attracted by the up and coming styles, like for example long time Chicago Outfit capo Ross Prio died in 1972 at the age of 72 and during his younger days he was the fedora and $500 suits type of persona, but later according to one surveillance report from 1970 or 1971 i think, he was described wearing pink shoes, green shirt and black leather jacket lol
