If he did I was never in it
Frankie and his wife ran the joint.
I'm sure when you were in that neighborhood you weren't lookin' for a beer and a sausage sandwich ;)
I'll bet you went a little further up the street :)
I only went to the Pines in my early 20s and late teens while I was home on college break or in the area for a birthday party. I wasn’t a regular by any means Plus I couldn’t get out of hand because of EB and Frankie, Frankie was there a lot and Joe Diorio and Tony Kelly worked the door. I got rowdy in there one night and I got a call from my father the next morning so I tended to pretty much stay away. We spent a lot of time in Akron/Kent/Cleveland in those days. But always made sure I went to your joint every time I came into town. Couldn’t resist the bar menu and the “stiff” pours.

P.S. Peppers are marinating
Crazy. I wish I knew then... I do remember Frankie because he and my dad were friendly but I wouldn't have a clue as to who else was there. Do you guys happen to remember Zorba's in Akron? Good times
So where was Zorbas in Akron Located? There was a Greek Place on Main street on North Hill but I don't recall the name of it.
I wish I could remember specifically but it was in kind of an industrial area right off of 76 as you're approaching Akron. We played there in the early/mid 80's and it was packed on weekends. There was another place nearby called Acropolis I think. Back then there were so many Greeks you could keep 3 clubs in Akron packed on weekends.

This isn't the same Pines that was next door to RJ's Holiday House on 422 is it?
Bingo. The Palace in the Pines
They used to have Greek night there w my Dad's band playing. The Campbell girls came in droves. Heaven for a teenager(me)lol
My dad's cousin was the longtime owner, spent many nights in there in my early 20's. What a cesspool!
