According to former Pennsylvania Governor and U.S. Attorney General Dick Thornburg, Bobby Iannelli was the first case ever tried in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania based on wiretaps from the Organized Crime Control Act.

Ok thank you. I find his case interesting. At his age he seems to be earning some big money.
He’s been a multimillionaire since the 1970’s. I know he’s been involved with gambling in his later years but his son had taken a prominent role in the organization, I never thought he was pulling the strings. $40-$50k per week just in football season along with a multimillion dollar numbers operation still going strong shocked me. And ironically, Chubb’s Place is still the drop point. I give the old man credit.

I’m not sure and it has never been confirmed that that is the reason smaller families didn’t make many guys in the later years. I’ve communicated with an FBI agent in Pittsburgh over the years who is now retired and he stated that in New York, you still had Italians migrating there in the 1950s and 60s as kids whereas a lot of the smaller cities, especially in the Rust Belt, Most of the immigration stopped in the 1930s and 1940s there for depleting a large pool of candidates. If someone came in and tried to shake down everyone they die In prison , there all rats , the need for a family in Pittsburgh is long gone ,they have lost there strangel hold on the unions , you cant exactly whack people anymore . so what service would the mob provide ? what would be the benefit to pay them? there gone and aint coming back , basically why do you need the mob ? you can run the shit your self and get slapped on the wrist

There was definitely more operating:

Sonny Ciancutti was operating into 2008. Jeff Risha, The Williams aka Guglielmo Brothers, Frank Unis Jr., Larry Amodie just to name a few.

Mike Genovese only made 5 guys during his reign to replenish the ranks...like many other smaller families, the old timers weren’t very keen on bringing in new blood.
