Ralph Mosca and Mario Traina
I'm interested in learning more about these two old school Gambino captains...I know nearly nothing about either...anyone have any insight?

I don't have much info on either of them.Browniety86 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 18, 2022 9:46 am I'm interested in learning more about these two old school Gambino captains...I know nearly nothing about either...anyone have any insight?
For Mosca, he was made in the 1950s and was likely under Arthur Leo and his successor Anthony 'Tony Baker' Napolitano. The Napolitano/Leo regime at various times included Frankie 'Cigaris' Piccolo, Joseph Lanza, Hex TNU, Vincent 'Jimmy' Casablanca, James 'Jimmy Calo' Calandriello, Frank Rizzo, John Casablanca, Joe Casablanca, Thomas 'Tommy' LNU, and possible Nicola 'Nicky Nelson' Melillo.
In the mid-late 1960s Frank Rizzo split off from the Napolitano crew and Ralph Mosca went with him. All East Harlem Gambinos were under Rizzo/Mosca. Eventually the two crews (Rizzo/Napolitano) were remerged in the early 1980s. I believe Ralph succeeded Pietro Stincone in 1977. He died in 1999, aged 89.
Mario Traina was born in 1915 and was made into the Gambinos in the 1940s or 1950s. He sponsored his brother-in-law Paul 'Whitey' SanFilippo into the Gambino family. Mario and Paul served under Mario's father Giuseppe Traina, who had a crew that included Vincent 'Jimmy' Amato, Salvatore 'Teddy' Giardina, Louis 'Red' Giardina, Paul 'Whitey' SanFilippo, Joseph SanFilippo, Angelo Mannino, Ignazio Mannino, Samuel John Mannino, Joseph Giardina Sr., Joseph Giardina Jr., Vincent 'Jimmy' Sarullo, Charles 'Charlie' LiCastri, Vincenzo 'Jimmy' LiCastri, and Joseph 'Oxie' Marino.
By the 1970s his father Giuseppe was aging, and Mario was his acting capodecina. When Giuseppe died Mario became official capo. He ran the crew throughout the 1980s and died in 1994. He was succeeded by Joseph 'Oxie' Marino.
