February 1980 - Thomas Spero,Gravano and Spero had once been friends and part of the same crew. Spero was the nephew of Shorty Spero, Sammy’s original boss. The two men had done many joint ventures together in the early 1970’s. After Sammy left that crew and became a Gambino, the two men became adversaries and their rivalry lasted for years. Gravano decided to close the door on the rivalry and Spero was shot to death in February 1980.

March 7, 1980 - Joseph Coppolino.Suspected informant.Stabbed to death. and decapitated by the DeMeo crew.

May 12, 1980 - Patrick Penny - Witness in Eppolito murder trial.
Authorized by Gambino leadership.Killed by the DeMeo crew.

June 5, 1980 - Charles Mongitore
Murder solicited by Salvatore Mangialino after victim insisted on pressing charges against son Andrew. Shooters were DeMeo and Borelli. Victim throat cut by DeMeo. Bodies placed in trunk of stolen automobile and left at nearby Holy Cross Cemetery.

June 5, 1980 - Daniel Scutaro
Killed to eliminate potential witness in Mongitore homicide.Authorized by Gambino leadership.

July 28, 1980 -John Favara was the backyard neighbor of john Gotti that accidently killed Gotti'son Frank with his car.

September 17, 1980, John Simone was murdered because he was involved in the unsanctioned murder of Philadelphia crime family boss Angelo Bruno.Salvatore Gravano was the hitman.

September 20, 1980 - Frank Amato
Mistreated daughter of Paul Castellano.Authorized by Gambino leadership.

Vito Borelli (Gambino Associate) (c. Fall 1980)

Motive: Made insulting remarks towards Paul Castellano (Gambino Boss).
Authorized by Gambino and Bonanno leadership.
Shooters were Gotti and Watts.

April 29, 1981 - James Bennett (Lucchese Associate)
Motive: Set to testify against Richard Mastrangelo.
Victim shot by two masked gunmen. Assailants carjacked passerby and fled scene after gunfight with off-duty corrections officer.

September 19, 1981 - Frank Piccolo,the Gambino family capo in Connecticut was killed because encroach on the Genovese crime family's control of rackets in Connecticut. Not wanting to risk lucrative constructions rackets the Gambinos share with the Genovese family, Castellano ordered Piccolo's murder.

December 4, 1981 - Joseph Viggiano

Motive: Owed money to DeMeo associate Gus Kalevas.
Show World operated by Kalevas in partnership with DeMeo. Only known crew murder in which Kalevas participated. Victim also involved in local x-rated businesses.

Investigating disappearance of son Joseph.

The two Inzerillo Murders -On January 18, 1982, an anonymous phone call ("with a foreign accent," specified the New Jersey police officer who drew up the report) warned that in a red car, in the parking lot of the Hilton hotel in Mount Laurel, there was a bomb. Instead there was the frozen corpse of Pietro Inzerillo. His hands cuffed behind. In the mouth, a five dollar bill. Two more for a dollar on the genitals.Antonino Inzerillo instead disappeared on February 8, 1982. It was his wife, Anna Gambino, who presented herself to the police in Delran, another town in New Jersey.
In 2010 Tommaso Inzerillo will be sentenced to life imprisonment in Italy as he "would have sold his relatives" to the Corleonesi to save his life.

March 1982 - Nicolina and Michael Lizak was tortured and killed by Joe Watts and other Gambino associate for the murder soldier Robert Russo.

June 27, 1982 - Frank Fiala was a high rolling drug trafficker who was in the process of purchasing one of Gambino family Sammy Gravano's nightclub The Plaza Suite in June 1982, Gravano was reluctant to sell the club at first, but Fiala had offered him a whopping one million dollars which was five times the value of the Plaza Suite. Sammy accepted a one hundred thousand dollar down payment from Fiala. The problems started almost immediately.
Fiala right away moved in and began exerting his power in the club, before the deal had been completed. When Gravano became annoyed and confronted him, Fiala pulled out an Uzi. Sammy played it cool and talked Fiala down, knowing he was going to kill him at the first opportunity. Gravano was genuinely disgusted and outraged by the arrogance of Fiala and gathered his team of hitmen after leaving the club that day.
Gravano, Louie Milito and another crew member Michael DeBatt then ambushed Fiala outside of the club that night. Sammy stepped in front of Fiala distracting him as Milito dropped him with a shot from behind. Louie Milito then shot Fiala once in both eyeballs. this was a message to others about the danger of disrespecting Sammy Gravano. Although more than a dozen people were close by, none stepped forward.

July 4, 1982 - Anthony and John Romano (July 4, 1982)

Suspected involvement in 1978 robbery of Peter LaFroscia.

January 10, 1983 - Roy DeMeo (Gambino Soldier)
Viewed as potential cooperator.
Body discovered January 20.

March 2,1983 - Daniel Silva was fatally stabbed at the Silver Fox Bar in Ozone Park by John Gotti jr bodyguard Mark Caputo. Mark Caputo and John Gotti jr then left the bar testified Silva’s friend Vinny Cennamo. Immediately after the stabbing John Gotti jr went to the house of Angelo Ruggiero. The same year Silva’s friend Vinny Cennamo committed suicide by hanging but it is suspected that he had been killed after John Gotti jr said he had been told by Ruggiero that Ruggiero, Wilford “Willie Boy” Johnson and Joseph Watts had killed Cennamo.

July 29,1983 Charles Carneglia “wiggled” his knife after plunging the short blade into Bonanno capo Sabella soldier Joseph Puma's son Salvatore “Worm” Puma’s chest,as said by informant Peter “Bud” Zucarro.

July,1983 - Peter Anthony Campisi decomposed body was found in Manhattan. His body was found in the trunk of a car in manhatten with $20 bills scattered over it.For allegedly skimmed he and Albert “Tiny” Manzo Sr.money from a Mafia-connected casino on Staten Island.

August 1983 - Albert “Tiny” Manzo Sr.The 350-pound mobster’s naked body – the arms and legs wrapped in plastic – was found bound and gagged in the trunk of his parked Lincoln-Continental outside a supermarket in Hillside, N.J. – there were four bullet wounds in his torso.
The killing was never solved.

May 27, 1984 - John Cennamo was found hanged. Retired Detective James McKinley said he heard Cennamo pin the stabbing death of his buddy Silva on Gotti following a fatal fight at the Silver Fox bar on March 12, 1983.
McKinley said Silva had just died and Cennamo shouted, “We all know who did it! We all know who did it! Johnny Boy Gotti.”


December 16, 1985 - Paul Castellano&Thomas Bilotti murders - Bilotti was driving Castellano to the prearranged early evening meeting at Sparks Steak House in Midtown Manhattan, on East 46th Street near Third Avenue.
A hit team (consisted of Salvatore Scala, Edward Lino and John Carneglia) waited near the restaurant entrance; positioned down the street were backup shooters Dominick Pizzonia, Angelo Ruggiero, and Tony Rampino.Gotti observed the scene from a car across the street.
As Castellano was exiting the car at the front of the restaurant at around 5:26 pm, the gunmen ran up and shot him several times.Allegedly, John Carneglia was the gunman who shot Castellano in the head.Bilotti was shot as he exited from the driver's door; before leaving the murder scene, Gotti drove over to view the bodies

January 1986 - Nicholas Mormando was killed because he was addicted to crack cocaine.

March 1, 1986 - Augustus "Big Gus" Sclafani disappeared,the murder was ordered by underboss Frank DeCicco.

June 5,1986 disappears of capo Robert di Bernardo who ruled most of pornography trade for the Gambinos. Gotti had Ruggiero arrange the murder because Di Bernardo was getting to close with the Genovese family and he suspected them of trying to take over New Jersey. Paruta shot him in attendance of his boss Gravano and his brother in law Eddie, also Tommy Carbonaro connected.

April 29,1987 Gotti's man Watts tortures to death the innocent William Ciccone which they suspected to be a Gigante-killer, his body was found in front of a store of the Gambino capo Joseph La Forte.

November 2,1987 Michael De Batt was shot to death in Gravano’s club Talia by Thomas Carbonaro and also connected were Edward “Eddie” Garafola and Louis Vallario.Michael DeBatt was killed because he was addicted to crack cocaine.

March 8, 1988 - Liborio Milito was killed because he was disrespectful against Gravano for making Louis Vallario capo of his old crew.

May 3, 1988 - Francessco Oliverri was killed because he murdered a Gambino made man.

August 29, 1988 - Wilfred Johnson was murdered because he was an FBI informant.

1989 - Thomas Spinelli was murdered because he was an FBI informant.

August 9, 1990 - Eddie Garofalo was a big player in the construction business. He had done tons of business with Sammy over the years but in 1989, they found themselves in a bitter dispute. Gravano ordered Garofalo to be killed

October 4, 1990 - Louis DiBono was murdered because he was stealing from the Gambino crime family and Gravano saw a chance to get revenge on an old enemy after years of rivalry.

December14,1990 - Charles Carneglia was the one who shot and killed armored truck guard jose Rivera who was gunned down while delivering money to Kennedy Airport.The two gunman flee with 65000 dollars.

November 20, 1991 - Bruce Gotterup was killed by John Burke a Gambino associate,the murder was carried out after Gotterup was suspected by Burke and other mobsters of stealing from associates and showing disrespect toward a ranking member of the crime family.

Thomas Uva and Rosemarie Uva robbed several mafia social clubs and was killed for this motive by Dominick Pizzonia in the 1992 Christmas Eve shooting to their car in the intersection of Woodhaven Boulevard and 103rd Avenue.

Mar 21, 1994 - David Stuart,a millionaire garment trucking executive that admitted in 1992 to being part of an illegal cartel controlled by the Gambino and Luchese mob families to control garment industry trucking,desappered.

September 15,1995 - Steven Aiello.He was an alibi witness for criminal activity in the Gambino/Genovese families prior to September 1995. His testimony helped free a man charged with killing the son of a Genovese crime figure at the direction of the Gambinos. Investigators believe one of the two families may have been involved in Aiello's disappearance due to his suspected perjury on the witness stand.

The Florida Murders - 3 bullet-riddled bodies were found in one weekend in October 22,1995. Nightclub bouncer Vincent D’Angola, 27, and his ex-girlfriend, Jami Schneider, 24, were both shot to death at D’Angola’s Fort Lauderdale apartment, and D’Angola's friend, Little League coach Mark Rizzuto, 26, met the same fate in his Boca Raton apartment a day later.

January 1996 - Robert Arena and Thomas Meranga were killed when a hail of 40 bullets were fired into their car in Mill Basin, Brooklyn.Andrew DiDonato said Arena, a Lucchese crime family associate, was targeted because he was suspected of killing a Gambino associate and muscling in on a rival crew’s turf in a festering dispute between the two families,while Meranga was an innocent bysanter in the wrong place.Michael Yannotti was sentenced for the two murders.

July 12, 1996 - John Gebert was killed by John Burke,a Gambino associate,outside a bar on Jamaica Avenue.Burke pulled the trigger on Gebert following a number of disputes with him and forassume the control of drug trafficking in the neighborhood.

January 1997 beating and murder of union official Frank Parasole.

April 28, 1998 - Frank Hydell,was killed by Letterio DeCarlo and Edmund Boyle, to keep him from revealing what he knew about the 1997 murder of Frank Parasole, a construction foreman, at a Brooklyn social club.

Gus Boulis- killed on February 6, 2001 by Gambino associates Anthony ‘Little Tony’ Ferrari, ‘Big Tony’ Moscatiello, and James ‘Pudgy’ Fiorillo reason remains unknown

Martin Bosshart- Killed january 2nd by Gennaro Bruno and Todd Labarca for cutting out mob surperios out of a marijuana trafficking ring

Joseph Gurino - killed 2003 by a owner of a florida deli who claimed it was self defense.

Joseph Rossi
- Gambino informant killed by informant Nicholas "Nicky Skins" Stefanelli after he blamed him for snitching him out February 24th, 2012.

Gravano didn’t kill Spero it was Gerrard Papa of the Genovese & it was unsanctioned. Papa was then killed by the Colombo’s.

Wasn't the Vito Borelli murder in the mid 70s? I thought that was one that Massino was involved in when he was an associate.

And was William Ciccone really innocent? Isn't the story that he took a shot at Gotti and Boriello was able to get him with a bullet and they threw him in a car and took him away?

The Massino testimony says it was the late 1970s and he was "just there". Other write ups about the murder say it was 1980 which I think is the correct year but I'd have to double check.

In this article is wrote that Ciccone tried to kill Gotti but dontsay the reason behinf the attempt murder,only that Ciccone was a small time criminals.
