Guy in NYC, I believe ran the trades council and 10 or more officials were taken down not long ago. Allegedly connect to the Gambinos and Groupa America.

Johnny Doc in Philly is under indictment for a bunch of charges. Business Agent for the Local 98. Brother a PA Supreme Court Justice. Donates tons to politicians.

A few years ago, the Doc that ran the Local 401 Steelworkers union went down with a bunch of other members.

that was local 638.. they were gambino led for a long time...not so much anymore, that last indictment was a bunch of guys who were still around from those days and still pay for play based. they have cleaned house and the international has put them under trusteeship, so basically washington d.c. runs them now. word is strike on july1st. their cba is up and cant handle their own contract negotiations due to the trusteeship. a lot of give backs being talked. the building trades council or its leaders had nothing to oo with it, and fyi all those indicted guys are now in the jersey local. working

Anyone now why the ports weren't more aggressively targeted in the 80's when Giuliani went after the Commission? I know the port has its own authority, but aren't both sides of Hudson the same port jurisdiction? It's weird Giuliani would so aggressively go after all of the other widescale business rackets but neglect the port. I would imagine the Jersey side wasn't his jurisdiction and fell under NJ, but I'd have to believe US Attorneys were on the same accord with this thing.

Well, there was already a government agency (Waterfront Commission) that had been in place since 1953 and oversaw the NY/NJ docks. What Giuliani did was create something similar with the Business Integrity Commission in New York City to regulate the waste hauling and wholesale food markets. He tried to make similar moves with the construction industry but wasn't successful.
All roads lead to New York.

That's strange because International Longshoremen Association Local 1235 has always been Genovese. I believe the sister local in Bayonne was briefly controlled by the Gambino's when John DiGilio got the Genovese Union guys convicted. But first I every heard of Gambino's controlled port Newark Local 1235

Good catch. You're right, Local 1235 is Genovese. The list is an old one I compiled years ago from the Real Deal days. Most of it is correct, though outdated, but that's on obvious miss on my part.

I wonder if that list if from the mid 80s in Gotti's heyday. Perhaps maybe they thought the Gambino's moved into Port Newark when Tino was away in prison? In the 70s when the Gambino's had a multiple crews based out of Newark and some had rackets at port Newark Extorting Trucking companies etc But Local 1235 has been under the thumb of the Genovese family since the 50s. But the Gambino's have not had a viable crew based out of Newark since Bobby Cabert went down. They have really struggled to have a viable presence in NJ since that time. Seems they have spent more time expanding into Long Island rather then NJ.
