Gerry Sciascia/Mikey Mancuso
I've been doing alot of reading on the Bonanno family lately and I keep thinking abt something PB posted on another site. He had said Gerlando Sciascia wasnt well liked in The Bronx and was known to rip people off in his jewelry business. Does anyone know why he and Mancuso(other than him murdering his wife) were so disliked in The Bronx?

PBs info as discussed before and he even admitted could be biased or off based if he knew the ppl.
As well as some of the ppl he said he knew.... Some might question bc he actually became wrong about most in the end
Regardless great guy to talk with

I thought Mancuso was well respected in the Bronx. Guy has several soldiers/ shooters up in the Bronx.

I loved reading PB's post, especially the ones abt Vinny and Stevie Crea...he obviously knew Vinny very well being a neighbor of his...once his father got ill, his posts we few and far between but still top notch...JeremyTheJew wrote: ↑Wed Mar 31, 2021 5:06 pmGotcha. Re: Gerry Sciascia/Mikey Mancuso
Geraldo Sciasca was from Canada. His problem was knocking TG Graziano - dad of mob wives and father in law of Hector Pagan, He told Joe Massino that TG was on drugs and was unreliable. Massino took that as a personal insult since he elevated TG. That was why geraldo was clipped up on the Bronx/Mt. vernon borderline
Re: Gerry Sciascia/Mikey Mancuso
Sal Vitale said george was well liked. They were friends..
Re: Gerry Sciascia/Mikey Mancuso

Re: Gerry Sciascia/Mikey Mancuso
I thought Sciascia was clipped for killing Joe LoPresti on the sneak...
Re: Gerry Sciascia/Mikey Mancuso
Massino said he approved the LoPresti murder from prison but didn't go into detail. It was when they were asking him about different murders he approved. Can't imagine he would take responsibility for it if Sciascia did it on his own, or if Vitale/Spero were the only ones who approved it. He usually makes a distinction between hits he approved versus hits they approved without him (i.e. Perrino).
I think Sal Vitale confused the circumstances of the LoPresti murder with the Cotroni son's murder that Massino accused Sciascia of ordering without approval. In later testimony Vitale couldn't even remember LoPresti or his murder so his memory concerning it appears to be inconsistent and hazy. In his earlier account of the LoPresti murder he says it was basically a gut feeling that Sciascia had asked for approval after the LoPresti murder was already carried out -- doesn't seem Vitale had any actual evidence of it.
Though they were some years apart, I'm thinking Vitale confused the two murders alleged to have been ordered by Sciascia in Canada during the 1990s. He may have heard that Sciascia ordered a murder without approval and mixed them up when he cooperated, hard to say, but that is the simplest explanation for the discrepencies.
--
Almost every account of Sciascia is that he was immensely popular with the American, Canadian, and Sicilian members. Whatever the issue with Graziano was, it appears to have been Sciascia taking issue with Graziano's conduct not the other way around.
Massino obviously felt Sciascia needed to die and he says it was because of the unauthorized murder of Bonanno member Frank Cotroni's son in Canada. We can question this, but we know Frank Cotroni's son was murdered and that Massino was made aware of this somehow. A big question is how Massino and/or the Cotroni faction learned Sciascia was responsible, or if they simply assumed it because of the alleged fight between Cotroni and Sciascia's nephew.
Massino admitted to ordering the murder, so I'm not sure what his motivation would be to invent a different story that involves real events. Sal Vitale admitted in later testimony, too, that there may have been other reasons for the Sciascia murder that he wasn't aware of. In the hierarchy of sources, Massino is the highest authority and while he has offered different motivaions for highly publicized murders, he has yet to be caught in an outright lie.

Re: Gerry Sciascia/Mikey Mancuso
is there any truth to Sciascia ripping off Rusty Rastelli’s brother and telling him to go fuck himself for the debt? even if this were true, would it have played into his death? I remember reading that to be one of the reasons, but when could that have happened; he was killed in 1999 and we hadnt heard of any Rastelli family member being actively involved in anything, close to that time.
His death is weird. Even with someone like Napolitano, whether it was nipping in the bud another potential insurgent, or because of Pistone, both events are plausible. But it didnt seem like Sciascia had grand visions to take over the family, and killing a huge earner and essentially a solid, direct bridge to Montreal, because he criticized the Consigliere, doesn’t make sense. I wonder if the people who actually killed him, some of those Bronx guys, were vocal in instigating his death? Or were they just picked for the hit due to location, convenience, etc
