Who slapped Luciano in Italy and what was the reason behind that slap?

I've read this incident on 3-4 diffrent sources and all of them mentioned diffrent names and diffrent stories so I wanted to ask you all, the reason behind the slap and who did it?

BTW: Did Luciano get him killed?
