Guys who only become criminals later on
We usually see the guys who since they were teenagers were criminals and then joined the mafia, but what are the guys who became criminals as an adult? guys who led honest lives and then turned to crime?
Frank Sheeran, for example, who, if I'm not mistaken, only entered the crime at the age of 35, being an associate of the Bufalino family.

Joe Ligambi in Philly doesn't appear to have become involved in crime until he was well into his 30s when got into the untaxed cigarette racket. Even then he worked a legitimate job (bartender) until he was in his 40s.

Re: Guys who only become criminals later on
My Great Grandfather Louie Lombardi, there is a long family story that I’m not going to bother sharing that involved his father after having migrated to America to escape persecution in Italy for murdering his mistress and stuffing her in a oven, and the mob attempting to extort the bakery his father opened in NYC. Long story short, it ended with my Great Grandfather as a child being found wrapped up in a rug in the dump, and his father giving into the mob’s demands only after they killed the rest of my Great Grandfather’s siblings so he could at least spare my Great Grandfather’s life, the only remaining sibling.
Clearly not a family with any relations, or willing association with the mob. Some where down the line, don’t even know if my family knows how this ended up happening, but some where down the line my Great Grandfather starting running the Peppermint Lounge along with Dick Cami, as a front on behalf of Dick Cami’s father-in-law Capo Johnny Biello.
Obviously, he wasn’t doing this all his life. What compelled him to work with the mob, after what they done to him and his siblings is beyond me. I guess my Great Grandfather was a psychopath and lacked empathy, makes sense because according to the book, and according to Dick Cami’s own words in the book my Great Grandfather had a real knack for breaking bones.

Sal Vitale was a prison guard. I think he only turned to crime after his sister started going out with Massino.

Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t Barney Bellomo attend Fordham university & graduated from it? Or he was doing crime & going to school which is very much possible?

Didn’t Massino’s testimony state he started dating Vitale’s sister when they were teenagers and he knew Sal since he was also a teenager?Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 7:08 pm Sal Vitale was a prison guard. I think he only turned to crime after his sister started going out with Massino.
