Re: bonanno split
That's interesting. Does the "acting" boss really have the power to put people on the shelve and restructure the entire family? It seems like Jr. was taking a few liberties. Wouldn't these types of moves require the official bosses approval?

Re: bonanno split
Jr himself got shelved, along with his supporters, no doubt because he was trying to usurp power, both in name and actuality, from Mancuso.

Re: bonanno split
I have a hard time accepting that Jr is going to take being shelved in stride and accept it. Is he wealthy enough to just say fuck it i’m good i’ve got enough money who needs them anyway?

Re: bonanno split
I guess though he only has two choices. Either accept it or make a move to get back in and that would probably take violence to pull off.

Re: bonanno split
It's been a while since there was violence within the Bonannos. We are in desperate need for a couple more murders for more forum activity. [emoji3]
Re: bonanno split
Conflict with murder/attempted murder within higher ranks of the nyc lcn in this day and age would be shocking yet interesting

I don’t know what it is about the bananas but I just love reading and studying them. So they are more Sicilian than the genovese ? Is it kinda the bonannnos are with the Gambinos and the Genovese maybe a little with the Lukes and then the Columbos are on an island ?

Re: bonanno split
Historically and very generally speaking the Genovese and Luccheses have been allies and the Gambinos and Colombo’s go back to Mangano and Profaci coming over here together. Bonannos and Colombo’s have
been allies also. But with that said that is speaking in very broad terms and things have changed throughout the years. And it was probably different from crew to crew and really person to person. And yes the Genovese had a larger mix of Sicilians, calabriabs, napolitans when they first started out.

When they first started the Genoveses were mainly Sicilian too. They incorporated the other Italian gangs during Masseria's tenure.MichaelGiovanni wrote:Historically and very generally speaking the Genovese and Luccheses have been allies and the Gambinos and Colombo’s go back to Mangano and Profaci coming over here together. I think the Bonannos have always been the most isolated/clanish of the Five, which is what makes them interesting.
The Colombos and Lukes are offsplits of the Gambinos and Genoveses so naturally their ties were closer. An exception was during the time when Bonanno and Profaci teamed up or when everyone mingled on two sides during the war.

Re: bonanno split
The entire Bonanno conflict can be traced back to Joe Massino flipping. After he flipped there was no clear successor since nobody wanted to take orders from basciano, who massino had installed as acting boss.
Wise men listen and laugh, while fools talk.
Re: bonanno split
Johnny Joe will be released to a halfway house July, August of 2020. As much as he may be pissed at his son’s bullshit he’s still his son. If anyone thinks Johnny doesn’t hold A TON of power within that family is drunk. Regardless of what “rank” guys are listed at on some of these charts there are certain guys in each family that have more clout and are feared then guys who may be “ranked” above them. Within the Bonanno’s Johnny Joe is that guy. It should be interesting to see what transpires.
