Informant question

Post by JeremyTheJew »

Has there been any informants that decided to flip without prison over there heads? Or some ever flip AFTER doing prison term?

Sometimes they flip when they know they are about to be whacked, to save their lives, not so much their freedom. As random examples, Fat Pete Chiodo and somebody from the New Jersey faction of the Lucchese family after Casso ordered it to be whacked entirely. Don't remember the details, but there were others for sure, both America and Italy. Bill Cutolo Jr testified against Allie Persico and Jack DeRoss because they killed his father, although I don't remember how much he was actually involved himself, if he was made or associate....
Just random examples, the first ones coming to mind.

Take it easy,I confused Mcintosh with Thomas McLaughlin.

      http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/816068

Sources say that Thomas McLaughlin, a quick-fisted tough guy who earned his mob stripes by serving 14 years for a mid-1990s drug dealing rap, flipped shortly after he got out of prison in 2008 when he was fingered for a murder he had committed with his uncle, Thomas (Tommy Shots) Gioeli, 17 years earlier.

“He didn’t want to go back to prison, not after doing all that time behind bars with nothing to show for it,” said one knowledgeable Gang Land source.

Joe Defede flipped just before he was due to be released because he thought Vic Amuso would have him killed. James Tartaglione is another one. He preemptively flipped after Sal Vitale flipped.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

It is said that Augie Maniaci started informing on the Milwaukee family because he was dissatisfied with new boss Frank Balistrieri passing up some of the older members (including Maniaci) for promotions and a bigger share of the mob's profits. By August of 1964 Maniaci was informing on Milwaukee and other families he had knowledge of but what I find interesting is in March 1964 after a three year investigation, Maniaci and others were named in a $300,000 statewide home improvement mortgage fraud scheme. Maniaci was one of five Milwaukee men charged with obtaining mortgage interests in property under false pretenses. Perhaps this was a way to get Maniaci to start informing- cooperate or do federal prison time.
