Re: Joseph Miranda dead
I posted this last month. There are some similarities but we weren't able to confirm that this guy is our Joseph Miranda.

He was known to LE for sure. His name came up on the DeCavalcante tapes as far back as the 1960s.TommyGambino wrote:Was he a well known wiseguy back then?Rocco wrote:No fuckin way would a known wise guy be able to work for fuckin Brinks the armored Cash Truck Co. lol That cant be him or the Decavs would have been knocking off Brinks trucks till he was busted lmao...!
Pretty sure Miranda was or is based out of Elizabeth and this obituary doesn't mention him ever having lived there. Combined with the Brinks connection, seems unlikely that it's him but I can't say for sure.
Re: Joseph Miranda dead
I would be very very surprised if a known wiseguy could have a life long career at brinks and even retire from there without robbing the place ! lol Not to mention the back ground check those employees go thru to get the job there.
Re: Joseph Miranda dead
One of the New Jersey reports (can't remember which one off the top of my head) had him living in Marlboro, NY. Also, Jerry Capeci, in his New York Magazine article from back in 2005, said that Miranda owned a bar on 1st Avenue. I'm assuming in Manhattan.B. wrote:He was known to LE for sure. From Dante on BB.
Last post, Miranda it always seemed to me was always one of the New York DeCavalcantes. I've never heard about him having any Jersey operations besides living there, he owned a bar on the East Side in the city, and the only Jersey thing to me he ever had was being the Acting Boss of the DeCavalcantes.

Re: Joseph Miranda dead
Miranda was listed a New York member of the DeCavalcante's back in the 80s.

I've never seen him listed as part of the NY-based crews (that I can remember), but he was supposedly involved in gambling and loansharking in NYC.
Either way, it's pretty clear that the guy whose obituary in question is not the same Joe Miranda.
Re: Joseph Miranda dead
That's a good point that they don't mention Elizabeth NJ. Almost all of the do even if they are not living there anymore.
