The "bensonhurst crew" and boopsie

I was reading scarpos article on the lucchese bust about boopsie canerella and he said hes crew was known as the bemsonhurst crew... I was wondering if this crew was the same as Paul varios? It was previously said while talking about vario that he ran the bensonhurst crew as well as east ny.

You mean Castelle? Not Canerella. His brother John runs that crew now, not sure if Vario used to run it. Cutaia was running the old Vario crew, anybody know who took over from him?

That's right Jeremy. I could be wrong but when Vic & Gas were in charge I think they had 4 Brooklyn crews.

4 crews? I know of 3, 19th hole crew (Old Amuso crew,taken over by Lastorino),McDonald ave crew (broke of from the 19th crew, capo Pete Chiodo) and Old Vario crew capo Al Darco...Wich would be the fourth?

They are from 2 different crews, the Vario/Darco/Cutaia crew is known as the Canarsie crew. What everyone is referring to as the Bensonhurst crew is either the 19th hole crew or the mcdonald ave crew. I'm not sure on the lineage but whichever crew Joey Flowers used to be captain of is Boopsie current crew. Its confusing you if throw in the fact that Bobby Amuso ran his crew from Canarsie and that Frank Lastorino also lived in Canarsie.

I guess you could say when the Vario crew was the sole Lucchese operation in Brooklyn they ran Bensonhurst for the Luccheses but once the 19th Hole crew sprung up in Dyker, Bensonhurst was def in their domain.
