Man hit by bullets this morning in the parking lot of a gym Laval, Lorenzo Giordano, 52, a lieutenant of the Rizzuto clan that police considered for months as a possible sponsor of the Montreal Mafia. He reportedly died from his wounds, learned La Presse.

Reportedly, Giordano, who was released from office last December, was a regular at this hour, the Multi-Sports Centre, to train. Obviously, his opponents knew his habits and waited near the gym Highway 440 this morning. Giordano would have been reached by at least one gun shot in the neck area, will we learned.

He is a man "in a critical state, which feared for life", the Health Emergency paramedical technicians have taken to Sacred Heart Hospital this morning, a health facility specializing in trauma bullet, where his death was confirmed. The investigation, initiated by the Laval police, was transferred to the investigators of the Crimes against the person of the Sûreté du Québec, as it likely a murder linked to organized crime.

newly released

Giordano was released from office in mid-December after serving two-thirds of a sentence of 15 years for gangsterism and other crimes imposed following his arrest in the broad anti-mafia raid Coliseum in 2006. following the war that somewhat weakened the Rizzuto clan and Magot operation beheaded organized crime in Montreal last November, the authorities considered him an influential person who could have played an important role within the Montreal mafia in the future. At the time of Project Colisée, Giordano was in the company of Francesco Del Balso, the main captain Francesco Arcadi, who took care of the Mafia street operations following the arrest of Vito Godfather Rizzuto in 2004. Sentenced to 15 years also as a result of operation Colisée, Arcadi and Del Balso were also statutory release under strong conditions, last month.

Since statutory release in mid-December, Giordano was living in a halfway house and was also under heavy conditions up to the end of his sentence in 2019.

Reportedly, Giordano was one of the last "men of honor" of the Montreal Mafia, as he would have received in the Montreal region in early 2004, following the murder of the clan leader Paolo Gervasi .

During Project Colisée, Giordano had been noted for the violence to which he did not hesitate to use. Investigators especially on suspicion of beating his former headquarters, the bar Laennec Laval, a client of paris sportsmen who had accumulated a large debt he did not reimburse, and have shot a person during an altercation at a popular bar in the rue Saint-Laurent. Giordano was also seen in possession of a handgun.

After years of conflict, the situation was relatively calm in the Montreal Mafia since the murder of Marco Claudio Campellone, committed on September 18 in Montreal, and Magot operation.

However, a dozen members of organized crime have been notified that their life was threatened last autumn and sources indicated that the situation remained unstable in organized crime. They apprehend that other settling succeed in the attack against Giordano.

Lorenzo Giordano, linked to Rizzuto clan, gunned down in Laval

A 50-year-old man has died after being shot at least once in the parking lot of Laval’s Carrefour Multisports Tuesday morning, according to Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Joyce Kemp.

The case was transferred from the Laval police department to the Sûreté du Québec because of it possibly being linked to organized crime, Kemp said.

A source confirmed to the Montreal Gazette that the victim was Lorenzo Giordano, a member of the Rizzuto crime family.

Laval police initially received a call around 8:40 a.m. from someone who said they heard “shots fired” in the parking lot, according to Laval police spokesperson Franco Di Genova.

The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The sports centre has been shut down for now as police set up a crime scene and try to find witnesses. The centre apparently has surveillance cameras that police will be investigating, Di Genova said.

More to come.

My two cents:

Anywho, supposedly , Giordano was the enforcement wing of the Rizzutos, and it's been rumored that along with Arcadi & Del Balso, he may have been behind the supposed threat on the lives of Leonardo Rizzuto & Stefano Sollecito. IF any of that is true, it seems those two still have some loyalty on the outside, and they didn't hesitate to separate Arcadi from one of his hitters. All three of these guys are supposedly living in half way houses now. Except for Arcadi, I think he has yet to be released.

That wasn't really a war but rather a one-sided massacre.

it still a war even if one side massacres the other. anyway that only happened after april 1981. before they were killing each others guys in other provinces.

maybe we talk about this in some other thread. i'm sure people don't want it to spoil a thread about canada.

if you want to discuss something else, better we discuss if merlino can be the boss of montreal. ;)

I dunno man, this Montreal shit is better than Mario Puzo stories in my opinion, what with all the crazy twists, characters, and wild, almost cinematic violence. But I will meet you halfway.

"Best North American mob war EVER."

Is that acceptable?

I will never understand Montreal. I know they still make tons of money bringing coke to Canada but wasn't their big money in the traffic to New York from international markets? I just don't see shipping coke to Canada in order to smuggle it into New York...

They made money shipping in heroin, it wasnt cocaine. I think they've begun shipping cocaine within the last decade or so, as Leonardo also is facing a drug charge for cocaine possession, but I don't know if it's small scale or big like how it was when they were shipping heroin. I don't know about NY, but the Operation MAGOT & MASTIF indictments imply that they still supply a large portion of the Montreal drug trade. Thats really what this is all about, Leonardo Rizzuto & Stefano Sollecito being co-bosses controlled the local drug market it seems. Somebody wanted to take their place. My personal presumption was it was Arcadi, Del Balso & Giordano. But I really dont know, could be some other Italians we have yet to hear or read about who want it. I also find it interesting this hit comes about a week after Girolamo Del Balso is arrested for transporting a large amount of cocaine. Perhaps someone saw that as their chance to make a move.

Thats essentially the same list I just posted, but like I said, I was obviously missing some names, a lot actually and I purposely excluded guys who had survived murder attempts and are still alive, because technically they arent victims. Good list though, regardless. And how many Pietroantonio's are there? Any idea what the others were involved in and with whom? Because I know Tony Suzuki, he's commonly attributed to being with Montagna during that whole time. Never heard much else about him aside from earlier stuff when he was a Rizzuto associate. And you listed Salvatore Calautti, both aged 40, as being shot to death twice, on the same dates. Different people or error?
