Now if in NY the recruitment pool is huge enought to find full blooded wannabes or on the worst only in the father side so only with the italian surname.

Chucky Porter was an example of made man italian only on the mother side and mickey souza,andrew campos and frank morales don't sound italians.

So will be possibile in the future first on the small families out NY and after in the 5 families had a made men with a non-italian surname ?

According to Salvatore Vitale in the last commission meeting in 2000 they changed the rule so only 100% Italian from that time.

I think officially the rule is still only full blooded Italians can be made - meaning a guy who's father and mother both had Italian names. But how strictly that's enforced, as long as the guy has an Italian father and last name, and especially if he's well connected, is anyone's guess. I certainly don't think the NY families need to start making guys who are only Italian on their mother's side in big numbers. That's still the exception to the rule, even today.

Morales is in Reggio also. Italy has Grecian, Albanian and Spanish surnames. It goes both ways. Some Spanish surnames derive from Italy and even Germany. Gonzalez and Gomez are of German origin. I believe Schiro and Nitto are Albanian derived.

Chucky Porter was a tremendous earner and boss material that in pittsburgh., they couldn't help but make him. He ran Youngstown and generated so much money it was insane. He was able to bridge the mafia and black gangs in Youngstown as well. He was so good at using these shines that he actually made them believe that they would be made despite being black. After the 1980s Youngstown turned into a black ghetto, after the mills and mines went belly up that if someone else was running it, they may not have had control of the blacks. Porter was still murdering govt officials in 96 for Christ sakes....he was also close to Mike genovesse....but those are the main reasons he was made into the Pittsburgh family.

And I would imagine that NYC was fine with it because Porter was one of the last to be made in the Pittsburgh family. The Pittsburgh family was supposedly put on a making freeze from NYC. I don't know if I truly believe this I've always thought that perhaps Mike genovesse just refused to make new guys in order to protect his rackets and lack of trust in new recruits.

I believe you are referring to Lenny Strollo who ran the Youngstown rackets. Strollo's liutenant Bernie "The Jew" Altshuler who had all the black drug dealers gambling in his high stakes casino called Sharkey's. Chucky Porter was from Lawrenceville but lives in Penn Hills. He became Underboss in 1987 immediately following the death of Jo Jo Pecora. Porter was a "longtime favorite" of John LaRocca and Joe Sica. After Frank Rosa (Sica's son in law) passed in 1982 from cancer, Sica really took Chucky to school along with Louis Raucci. Both Porter and Raucci came up under Frank Rosa, and Sica had Mike Genovese's ear. And to the contrary, Mike Genovese and Chucky Porter NEVER met with the Youngstown contingent, Henry "Zebo" Zottola by 1992 was Mike Genovese's right hand and he oversaw Lenny Strollo and his crew in Youngstown as well as Pat Feruccio and his operations in Canton, OH. Mike Genovese didn't even meet with Nicky Scarfo and Phil Leonetti in 1986 at a Monroeville hotel. Mike send Louis Volpe, Joe Sica and Chucky Porter to negotiate for him. Mike was well insulated and tropically only dealt with 2-3 people in person. He sent orders down through 3 channels to avoid LE. Every envelope that was passed to him was by "one" person, and it was Porter by the time Mike became boss in 1985. Mike was a recluse. He got more joy out of hosting hunting parties on his estate in West Deer. He liked carpentry, hunting and going to shows at the Holiday House. He showed up to L. A motors Mon-Fri every day for work as a salesman, where he was employed for over 30 years. He had legitimate businesses that he operated honestly to show income. He washed much of his money through commercial real estate in Highlsnd Park as well as most of the hotels and motels in Konroevilleznd near the PA Turnpike near Rte 8 Butler. Porter cooperated but did not testify against anybody and Strollo later cooperated as well.
