Non-members can now post on the Mafia Forum?

I’ve noted recently that BHF has been logging me out of my account in the middle of a post, which then results in the post appearing as having been written by a “Guest”, and I can’t subsequently edit or delete it after I log back in.

This categorically never occurred until the last couple of months and seems to be occurring to other users as well. But it shouldn’t be happening, as so far as I was always aware, non-members are not allowed to either read or post in the main Mafia Forum section.

Out of curiosity, I logged out of my account and was still able to view the Mafia Forum. Further, it seems that I am able to both post in threads and even create a new topic, as I did here as a demonstration. All that is required of me as a “Guest” is to submit a “CAPTCHA” code to prove that I’m not a bot.

So is this an update gone awry, or an intentional change in policy for the BHF? I, for one, engage in discussion of individuals and topics that I would not feel as comfortable engaging in on an open public forum. If it’s a problem, it needs to be addressed ASAP. If it is intentional, I think that this is a major change in the forum which needs to be addressed as a change in “terms of engagement”. I, at least, did not consent to have what I always understood to be a private, members-only space opened to anyone to view and post.

FYI, this is me. I was able to create the temporary handle “IAmAGuest” and start a new thread in the Mafia Forum under it without having logged into BHF.

I'm glad the forum is private to people without accounts but would prefer it to be totally anonymous. People would have to guess the identity based on the content and posting style.
