Chicago has always been a "what have you done for me lately" type of family. It's been strongly hinted that Lombardo was on the shelf when he was indicted and Marcello's powerbase had severely eroded by the time of his conviction. Sarno (and by extension, a lot of his guys) was probably happy to see him go away, especially after he (allegedly) had Marcello's top guy disappeared. All that said, it does appear that Frank Jr. isn't just someone who can walk into any place in the city and be treated like one of the guys, either.
The "mob" is what have you done for me lately everywhere. Even if your running book for someone. You can be a on
point with money every week for years. That one day your bag is short. Well... you gotta make it right, immediately. I feel like these who are involved should know that, going on. If they don't know that, they are either naive or ignorant. Either way its still their fault. Telling on your friends because of that is not the solution.
Frank JR, clearly had a drug problem. Playing it off like he wanted to piss dirty to get less time is just a false narrative he likes to spin to save face. Kurt sounds like he is scared of his own shadow. And Kurt knowing all the shit that Frank JR was doing, like "getting the whole neighborhood doing coke," why does he hid a duffle bag of money in the house and the only person he tells is Frank JR? None of it adds up.
The more they talk the less believable it is imo
I don’t know why people still think anything highly of either Calabreses punk kids. They’re a couple of unhinged junkies who absolutely loved the life and happily reaped the rewards from it. Kurt sounds like a bumbling mental patient when he speaks and junior is the definition of a grifter.

They also both still respect and hold allegiance to the outfit. People want to hear them talk about that and not their tired old tales of the cooperation, and they outright refuse to do it
Kurt testified? For some reason I thought it was jr and only jr. Kurt seems like he has psychological issues .
No but he still runs his mouth a lot. He was too much of a coward to testify.

What I was trying to say was that no one wants to hear these two constantly talk about robbing the father or how abusive he was or describing their childhood house etcétera. People want them to discuss Elmwood park growing up, the players, the crew structures, the Carusos and Chinatown during that era, who was under who, and so forth. And they both refuse to do it.

It’s also ironic that he constantly talks up newer guys like rovito & carparelli, who, by all accounts, seem to have been fat Sarno disciples or groupies or worshippers lol. But fat Sarno and his partner Cataudella, who Marcello is •on wiretap• after being told that they’re the ones who have taken the reigns of the family and he tells his brother to give them his blessing and called them “good kids”, wasn’t respected and had no power because he was overweight and had long hair & a 5 o’clock shadow in a mugshot like 40 years ago hah
I agree with what you're saying, but to clarify, Marcello didn't' give Sarno blessing to "run things" in that recording. Marcello was boss as the time (from prison), and was asking Michael how much Sarno and his crew were "bringing in each month". and then called him a "good boy", presumably because he was earning well for the family. Those recording were made in the early 2000's well before Sarno was discussed as possibly being boss. Either way, Marcello clearly supported him at that time.

How was he a coward for not testifying?
The court had a slam dunk case. They didn't need him. Putting an emotional guy like Kurt on the stand could of benefited the defense just as much as it would the prosecution.

Dude, you are all over the place. I cant make sense of the point you are trying to make.

Who says they think highly of them?
Unhinged junkies? Frank Jr had a drug issue over 20 years ago and Kurt never did drugs based on what we know. Kurt never enjoyed "the life." He never stated that. It was his allegiance to his father is why he did it.
Frank being a grifter might be the only plausible statement you made here imo.
How do they both still respect the outfit? Kurt always seemed to have the same negative sentiment about "the life" and i never heard him glorify anything. And Frank was an informant and does "mob tours" now. Kurt speaking out has nothing to do with the Outfit at all.
For him its about his family, his brother. I imagine in some way this is like therapy for him imo.
