I'm sure you have. Its the one of Lombardo lounging around around a pool, maybe the guy is connected..who knows..I just always have a hard time believing anyone palling around with someone of Lombardo's age is spending time on reddit.Snakes wrote: ↑Sat Dec 12, 2020 11:07 amIf it's the one I'm thinking of, I believe I've seen it before. It could be something the same guy has shared on Facebook before or something and had yet to do so on Reddit.funkster wrote: ↑Sat Dec 12, 2020 10:16 am Some guy in that Outfit subreddit (not Boka) posting the Joey Lombardo St. Tropez vacation photo and playing it off like he's the one who took it. Maybe I'm nuts, but those st tropez photos have been around havent they? This dude acting like its some hidden gem he's sharing lol.

The guy's story is super interesting. Could be BS, could be legit.funkster wrote: ↑Sat Dec 12, 2020 11:19 amI'm sure you have. Also the guy's only post on Reddit thus far is this one. He did comment on Boka's pic of Steve Panzarella to state that Panzarella is connected but not a member. If he's legit he's probably much younger than Lombardo of course -- 40s, 50s -- maybe just a younger guy back in 2020 that was hanging out with connected guys.

I noticed that as well. I was going to point out he is conveniently leaving out Panzarella's fairly prominent role in the Wisconsin indian casino takeover attempt, but decided not to.PolackTony wrote: ↑Sat Dec 12, 2020 12:31 pm Also the guy's only post on Reddit thus far is this one. Yes lol. Perhaps he's a shill or something. Post a pic of some dead guys and tell a few stories but also comment on active guys to downplay their connection.funkster wrote: ↑Sat Dec 12, 2020 12:35 pmI noticed that as well. Does anyone have anything about who invited or brought Paul Ricca to Chicago from Brooklyn in 1920? Some say Torrio did, but I haven't seen this in any FBI file or other original source.

Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
The story I recall was that Ricca was brought to Chicago by Joe Esposito. Either they first made contact in Cuba or NYC (given Ricca's ties to the Camorra it's conceivable that they already had some mutual contacts back in Naples, who knows).
I don't have any documented evidence for this, however, just recall reading it somewhere in the past. Of course the fact that Ricca apparently started out right away in Chicago working at the Bella Napoli is consistent with a link to Esposito having brought him in the first place.

Ricca said he worked at the Dante Theater on Taylor Street from 1920 to 1924, then he moved to Diamond Joe Esposito's Bella Napoli. However, a 1926 article noted he was at that time an assistant manager at the Dante Theater, so his chronology was off.PolackTony wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 1:38 amThe story I recall was that Ricca was brought to Chicago by Joe Esposito. The Spingola family was also allegedly instrumental regarding Riccas stay in Chicago.

Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
What would've been the initial connection between Ricca and the Spingolas? I have the Spingolas down as Calabrese from Cosenza, doesn't seem likely they'd have connections from back on the "other side".

Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
During the early 1940s one member of the Spingola family said that Ricca "grew up" with them on Taylor St. Ricca arrived in Chicago in 1920 at the age of 23, meaning he was already grown up and Spingola probably meant that his family took care of Ricca at first since by the mid 1920s he worked at the theatre on W Taylor and later by 1925/26 he was with Esposito at the Bella Napoli Café on Halsted (it is possible he kept two jobs). Who knows, maybe the Spingolas knew that Genero Calabrese guy from New York who welcomed Ricca and thats how the connection was established?!PolackTony wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 12:08 pmWhat would've been the initial connection between Ricca and the Spingolas? Henry Spingola was a Taylor St Mafioso and associate of the Gennas who was killed during Prohibition and some family members were also involved in ward politics.

In addition, by 1935 Ricca was the owner of the Playhouse Theatre and applied for insurance in the Northwestern National Life Insurance Company. Later Ricca applied to the Equitable Life Assurance Society for a retirement annuity and he even gave applications for beneficial membership in the Italo-American Union formerly known as Unione Siciliana.
