I mightily disagree with you due respects. The daily numbers in nyc is not what you describe. Its a mistake to think that a daily in a spanish area must be run by the spanish. Its usually not. In queens where there's a bunch of spanish immigrants the daily was dominated by chinks going back to the 70s. HELLO!bert wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2019 8:58 pm I read more of the book, TJ English puts a lot of work into it, but he also has things in there that are from sources I wonder about. He has Tony Salerno as a stereotype in the book, and in one part has him meet all the top Latin numbers runners in a restaurant on 72nd street ( An upscale area) and after the meeting a car comes down the street and tries to machine gun the Latin guys. He does not specify his source, and if there is one it needs to be never taken seriously again. The book has some gruesome photos of Corporations killings, and photos of some of the players during their days in Cuba. Its a good book, but I think he should have whittled it down a bit in some parts, and given better references to conversations that took place. He has sources listed in the back of the book, but a few are NY Times stories, which I don't trust. He has parts on Cafaro taping conversations, I which he could have given a few word for word examples of conversations record by him instead of giving his or other peoples' versions of them
The tj english is an entertaining writer but he ain't a news reporter or investigates journalism. He is a story teller and good one at that. I read the The Westies. But that book is as much part fiction as it is based on truth. I suspect The cuban corporation is too! They are both novels and not to be used as a history text book like the kind they have in school. No such event happened on 72nd street which was a shit hole at that time and not the jew town upitty up over priced shit hole it is now. A high ranking boss is not going to be meeting the "bolita" leadership for no reason nowhere anytime then or now. If it happened they would send a guy down below. Dellacava. A driver. And one by one. Not a bunch of people in a room. Especially not on 72nd street a stone's throw away from the most notorious illegal casino on the eastern seaboard. THEN. That's a invitation to a raid. Fact is the tj english wrote why you don't do that. You might get mowed down like in the book. Or a bomb set in the room. neither would happen but you get it. Its the paranoia. You avoid that. The bolita guys in a room meeting with tony salerno is fake only because the daily is mostly independent guys and no one group can completely control the racket. Like drugs. Or pussy. There's also a huge turnover rate. One guy has a game today they are gone a year or 3 seasons later. New guys (or gals)step in. Women are operating numbers and shy. Only thing organized is the mob. Sincerely,

Jersey City bodegas also offer sports gambling services ( they give tix and all lol ) and I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some wise guy bank involved.
The westside will work with the locals in areas they once controlled ( in NJ at least ) . In Newark they work with the Portuguese and Spanish down neck in all types of bookmaking , loan sharking, check cashing and video gambling rackets.

Paterson too all the Dominican joints have gambling offered in the neighborhood. A lot of the Dominican bars in Paterson also push coke out of them.TommyNoto wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2019 7:59 am Jersey City bodegas also offer sports gambling services ( they give tix and all lol ) and I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some wise guy bank involved.

The new Police Chief/Director of Paterson (Speziale) has started to crackdown on a lot of the stuff in Paterson but up until a few years ago Paterson was truly the Wild Wild West with anything going. Back in the summer of 2009 I once bought weed from a gas station in Paterson that didn't even have working gas pumps with gas in them, was just a gas station u could buy drugs out of. My Grandfather used to get his hair cut by Speziale's father, the guy is a real publicity hound but he seems to actually be trying to crackdown on all of the lawlessness in the City of Paterson.
Re: The Corporation
Jiggs, I agree with you on all but one thing, 72nd street on some parts like the east side were nicer than most parts of the city, and I wouldn't say it was a shithole at all. It was not as upscale as it is today though. Shit, the old slum areas went upscale now.
Re: The Corporation
72nd Street West of CPW used to be spanish harlem south. Cubans mostly. The Spanish guys with the funny accent that spit when they talk. Ricans were more the way uptown. Spanish ray, huey mulligan, paulie vario, tony angelet, stevie coogan and (supposedly the big guy) funzi tieri, some others I don't know about were partners in a casino on the 2nd floor of the concha restaurant on 79th st and columbus avenue. It was a metal door with bolts and peep hole. One of the guys from the old real deal chat room seen it. I didn't read the tj english latest on the cubans but pretty sure he was talking about the west side in the chapter talking about bolita guys and fat tony and a machine gun drive by. Because that's where the action was. Old san juan hill/upper west side/lower harlem. 72nd east of 5th was always nicer. Pleasant Regards!bert wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2019 9:09 am Jiggs, I agree with you on all but one thing, 72nd street on some parts like the east side were nicer than most parts of the city, and I wouldn't say it was a shithole at all. Re: The Corporation
Most of the coalitions or "associations" are led by moolies or spanish who answer to a White man. The one ones who don't are small potatoes and taking advantage of their members who pay dues but only find work once in a while. Guys like David Rodriguez, Reggie Rob, Lucky Rivera rose up the ranks and became bosses. They knew the score and how the game worked and got a piece. The crooks are the developers who create the environment for coalitions to form. Nyc construction industry is as corrupt as it gets.
I disagree again. Those people hate each other. There's no jew/guinea syndicate equivalent on their end. Cubans hate everybody. Ricans hate cubans and dominicans. Who hate them back. They all thumb their nose at mexicans. Mexicans look down on the central american spanish. And they don't care for cubes, ricans or san domingans..Not infiltrating the unions, Just more Hispanics and Hispanic run Outfits and coalitions! Some of the bigger ones being run and owned by Cubans that are unionized, I haven't seen any cases/Indicrments like that either where Cubans or dominicans were involved on any infiltration level, Or taking over anything . We all know the LCN is still the biggest player involved even though they have been dramatically weakened .Yes, Drugs are number one, But Cargo theft has literally been taken over by Cubans,Dominicans and other Hispanic groups who usually work together and are highly organized.
Unless its junk (millions) I don't see any kind of team player scenarios going on. Not for jacking cargo.
No shit? I'd like to see the paperwork on that.A large number the FBI credits the Cuban mafia as they now call it headquartered out of Florida, Miami in particular and other Cuban ,Dominican and other Hispanics are cited by the FBI and LE as reporting to or being under , Belonging
To , Or under the influence of the Cuban mafia.
Sounds hokey to me. East side Eurotrash gets most of the press around insurance scams. I've never seen anything in print stating cubans dominate that racket. Cubans launder money, move drugs, operate bolita, pimp out girls, contract muscle, the phone cards, stolen cars, bars, smuggling booze to the U.S. When I was a kid they used to push fake birth certificate racket where a guy from mexiço gets a state id because the birth certificate stated he was born in P.R. and them guys are automatic citizens. Is there some kind of senate committee report talking about this? There is also very high level sophisticated frauds ,Scams and crimes in the health/Medical Medicaid Medicare insurance in the hundreds of millions, Some say billions of dollars being carried out by the So called Cuban Mafia which they say is comprised of former members of the Corporation and other groups of that era being labeled as on big organization today. By no means do they rival the LCN in terms of Diversification of Crime/Rackets, Structure size and strength and influence even in the LCN weakened state today, In certain fields/Rackets they do, Supposedly make the American LCN look look like small fries but only in the rackets and crimes I mentioned in last post
Re: The Corporation
Didn't the Cubans have a hit out on Roy DeMeo or he killed one of them somewhere and had to hide or duck from them? Maybe I have DeMeo mixed up with someone else. Does any of this sound right?
Re: The Corporation
The Cubans were sending out a hit team after them for their robbery of a load of coke, Demeo promised to kill the guy,People responsible and show them proof to stop them from coming after them, I think it was Chris Rosenberg he killed over it, Not 100 on that though
