I'm just trying to stir up some conversation, why don't you people do the same instead of criticizing my opinion or my grammar? I assume everyone on here is interested in LCN or they wouldn't be on here.

First, you call Palermo a "piece of shit" for flipping. Does that imply he wasn't a piece of shit before he flipped? In other words, are you more troubled by his defection than his life of crime prior to that? Only mob fan boys and apologists think that way. Interest in the mob is one thing. Admiring them is another.

Second, as has been pointed out several times, despite the number of rats in recent years, they are still very much in the minority.

Third, the figures from the government are more credible and consistent than all the jerkoffs on these forums over the years who are arrogant enough to think they know
better.

I think most of us do admire them to a certain degree, there's no need to be hypocritical about that. However, the difference between us and fanboys is that we realize who they really are and what they're capable of.

I sympathise with Lupara and Teflon on this.

Wiseguy youre being a little 'holier than thou' here my friend. I think the reaction to Teflons post was dramatic overkill.

So, nothing to see here. Lets all move on...

You know, Tony, I'm getting sick of this "holier than thou" act and I'm not the only one.

Come on, Sonny, don't be so fucking dramatic. I'm just saying sometimes you
act like you're in a different business.

i think that sometimes we need to remember the context of these types of discussions and these types of forums in general when things like "he was a standup guy" are brought up. it's one thing to acknowledge the people who followed the rules of the criminal organization they knowingly joined, i don't think that always equates to rooting for and/or glorifying criminals, although granted there are certainly exceptions. i just think the whole "fanboy" thing gets thrown around alot more than it should.

Thank you Five. All i'm saying is that ratting out people is wrong. You did the crime,do the time and don't ruin somebody else's life. Besides it has never seemed right to me to take one criminal's word over another. Gravano murdered 19 people, more than most serial killers. Even though he fucked his second chance at a regular life up,he still was given a chance while Gotti and other's went to prison for life. You could go on and on with the list of people who went free so the govt could lock up others. I know that is how the Feds work with getting informants and information but it has just never seemed right to me. I'm not admiring criminals ,whatever you choose to do as an adult is no one else's business so own it even if it's bad and don't drag other people into your misery.

I think (or at least hope) there are of some of us here who don't admire mob guys in the least. One can recognize some have a certain aptitude or capibility for this or that but that's not admiring them.

His post was pretty clear. Of course he isn't by any means the first to consider flipping a worse thing than a life of crime. Too many posters on these boards begin to identify with mob guys and end up thinking like them. And pointing that out isnt being "holier than thou."

No, talking on a mob context - like saying he was a "stand up guy" - doesn't automatically mean somebody rooting for the mob but it's often pretty clear when somebody is. And no, "fanboy" doesn't get thrown around too much. They have always been legion on these boards.

I think most guys here became interested in the mob after seeing films such as The Godfather or Goodfellas, because they liked the characters and their lifestyle. As for me, what I admire about these guys is the way they handle themselves in their world, because it's a hard life having to watch your back all the time from rivals, law enforcement or even friends. It's a constant chess game. I also admire the intelligence, cunning, charisma and business acumen of guys such as Joe Bonanno, Frank Costello, Carlo Gambino, Meyer Lansky or Vito Rizzuto. But that's where it my admiration ends because I also realize their true nature and I'd rather keep my distance. Fanboys however are people who dream to become their friends. People who rooted for John Gotti during his trials, those people are tools.
