He was born Jan 2 1887 and immigrated in 1906. He lived at 176 Elizabeth St, NYC, NY before moving to Westchester (69 2nd St, New Rochelle, NY)
His capo Vincenzo Generosa had pretty much the same path. Immigrated from Sciacca, lived at Elizabeth St, and moved to Westchester.
Both of these guys were pretty old; we don’t really know how old the Generosa crew was. I wonder if there were other old-time Agrigento Genovese guys who were overlooked.
what is the source for campo being a generosa crew member?

If someone else already put this up please skip over.
Although the Wikipedia entry for Joseph "Socks" Lanza says that he was born in Palermo in 1904, the Mafia book put out by the Federal Bureau of Narcotics reports that he was born in New York City on August 18, 1900. He was born to Salvatore Lanza, a native of Palermo born in 1867 or 1868, and Carmela Faso of Cerda, a comune that borders Termini Imerese and Montemaggiore Belsito. (She may have been the daughter of Salvatore and Maria Antonia LoFaso.) Salvatore Lanza reported that he immigrated to New York in 1894 while Carmela arrived in 1899. Salvatore and Carmela married the day after she arrived. Salvatore Lanza appears to have worked as a street laborer until he died in 1926.
Joseph Lanza's birth isn't listed in the NYC birth index and I couldn't find a record, but at that time they were optional. Al Capone's birth record isn't available neither and there's no doubt that he was born in Brooklyn, so I think it's safe to accept that Lanza was born in Manhattan. His World War II draft registration card indicates that he was born Joseph Aloysius Lanza on August 18, 1900 in NYC.
According to his prison record, Joseph was the second child of Salvatore and Carmela, but as of the 1920 census he's the oldest, so either the oldest child died or moved out, or the information is incorrect. His siblings according to that census were Sarah, Salvador, Nunzio, Annette, Tony, Michael (?), Frances and Rose. The lived at 67 Market Street and their immediate neighbors were surnamed Frasca (possible connection to Cosmo or Gus Frasca?). 18-year-old Joseph worked as a driver at the Fish Market.
In 1925 the Lanzas were living at 102 Madison and Joseph was now a fish dealer. His siblings are listed as Sarah, Salvatore, Harry (Nunzio), Antoinette, Anthony (Tony), Frances, Rose, and 1-year-old Eleanor. Michael's (if I read it correctly) name is missing so he may have died. Salvatore was also a fish dealer and Harry worked as an office boy. Salvatore Sr. died of a peptic ulcer on August 28, 1926, at age 59. The undertaker was noted as Vincent Venella of 29 Madison St. - brother of Johnny Torrio associate Rocco Venella.
By 1930 Joseph was the head of the household, which included his mother Carmela and siblings Salvatore, Harry, Antoinette, Anthony, Frances, Rose and Eleanor. They still lived at 102 Madison, but now Joseph was married to Rose, who was one year his junior. I couldn't find any record of their marriage, but Ancestry.com suggests that her maiden name was Rosa Santagata. Joseph was now a union delegate for the fish union, Salvatore Jr was a wholesale fish dealer, Harry was a secretary for the fish union, and Anthony was a messenger for a brokerage firm. The year before, on February 8, 1929, Joseph returned to New York from Havana, Cuba. His birth date was given as August 18, 1899, and his address as 102 Madison Square. His neighboring passenger was a Joseph Visco of 263 W. 70th Street, but it's unknown if they traveled together.
As of the 1940 census, Joseph Lanza no longer lived with his siblings, but lived with his wife Rose and their daughter Rose at 17 Olive Street. The daughter's age is 18, but it's probable the correct figure is 8. His occupation was business agent at the fish market. There was an Eduardo and Celia Santagata who lived nearby, possibly related to Rose Lanza. The World War II draft registration, taken on February 16, 1942, has him living at 96 Catherine Street with his mother and a different wife, Ellen Lanza. According to the Mafia book she was originally Ellen Conner. His employer was the Fish Forwarding Company, 151 South Street, NYC.
On January 29, 1943, he was sentenced to 7 1/2 to 15 years for extorting money from Teamsters Local 202, and he arrived at Sing Sing on February 1. His admission record shows that he only had an 8th grade education. Prior to his arrest he had worked at Fish Forwarding for two years as a general manager, and as a business agent for the United Seafood Union for 15 years (Wikipedia says he worked for the union as an organizer as early as 1923; Lanza was suspected of killing labor organizer William Mack in May 1926). He was already known as "Socks" and had been married to his new wife for a year. The same years as his 1942 arrest he was contacted by Navy Commander Charles Haffenden to fight Nazi operatives on the wharf, while Lanza was ordered by Frank Costello to help arrange a deal for Lucky Luciano. It's debatable how much was accomplished under their arrangement.
As of 1962, when the Mafia book was compiled, Lanza lived at 300 W. 23rd St., Apr. 14, NYC. He was known to frequent Angelo's Neapolitan Restaurant at 146 Mulberry Street as well as the Lower East Side dock. By that time his brother Salvatore was dead and his sisters were married. Lanza died on October 8, 1968, and was buried at Calvary Cemetery in Queens County.
His brother Harry, who was born on August 10, 1908, died in Long Beach, Nassau County, NY, in December 1977. Harry had married Carmela Maisano on April 23, 1923, in Manhattan. In 1940 he was a wholesale fish distributor and lived at 25 Tennis Court in the Flatbush/Prospect Park South section of Brooklyn, a six-story apartment building with 61 units built in 1929. Per his WWII draft card he worked for Chesbro Bros and Robbins at 123 Fulton Market. In 1950 he was still living at 25 Tennis Court and was listed as a proprietor and a fish wholesaler.

I think it's more likely that a NJ member who was in Catena's crew lived in the Newark area rather than upstate NY.
This obituary (https://www.newspapers.com/article/the- ... 116597032/) is for a Dominic J Ferraro who lived in Nutley, NJ. It would match the Genovese member.
On the DeCarlo tapes, they contact Gene Catena multiple times over issues related to Stassi which is why I thought he was in this crew. It's possibly that he was direct with Jerry; Stassi was much more autonomous than the rest of this crew. They could have just been using Gene to relay messages.
Re: Visiting the West Side 1963
There was a FBI report in or around 1964 that identified Don Ferraro as a Genovese member and gave his DOB (1906) and area of residence (Upstate NY). What are the chances of two Don/Dom Ferraros, both nicknamed Fat, in the Genovese family? Probably not very high. The report mentions that Ferraro traveled around the U.S. to deliver messages and stuff like that for the Genovese family, not impossible that he lived in upstate NY. The info on Don Ferraro dying in 1967 comes from LCNBios.JoelTurner wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 7:33 pmThis document (https://www.maryferrell.org/showDoc.htm ... lPageId=10) mentions a Dom J. I know Zeccardi was listed in the Miranda crew, though he was very close to Louis Gaccione, Albert DiStefano, Rosario Mogavero, Benny Red, and other associates/members of the Altomari-Mogavero crew.

Bill Feather has Dominic Ferraro dying in 1958, owning a barber supply company and being a millionaire , so is this info, incorrect? Could there be possible missidentification with his brother Ralph?bn wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 1:12 pmThere was a FBI report in or around 1964 that identified Don Ferraro as a Genovese member and gave his DOB (1906) and area of residence (Upstate NY). (Ferrara, Ferrera, Fat)
DOB: Jul 27 1901
POB: Boonton, NJ
F: Francesco Ferraro
M: Rosa Montalto
W: Antoinette “Jennie” Incenzo
Occupation: Owner - Delicatessen
Address: 10 Washington Ave, Nutley, NJ
Prior addresses: 10 Hagert St, Nutley, NJ; 75 River Rd, Nutley, NJ
Death: May 30 1989 - Saunderstown, RI
Family from Ariano Irpino, Avellino, Campania
He started out as a member of the Dutch Schultz mob. In 1964, he disappeared with Catena’s money and appears to have gone to Rhode Island. He owned the Old Acres Restaurant (1065 Tower Hill Rd, N Kingstown, RI)
Don 'Fat' Ferraro (10.21.1906 - 1.20.1967)
He lived at Salt Lake Blvd in Lake Mahopac, NY

I don't believe Ralph was his brother. Ralph 'Whitey' Ferraro was a NY guy who took over Patsy Del Duca's crew in 1964. After Salvatore 'Skinny Sal' Celambrino died his crew was placed with Ferraro. After he (Ferraro) died in 1973 his crew was placed with the Carillo-Ianniello crew.

What is the source for Perrotta being a Generoso crew member? He was listed as a Alo crew member in the Valachi charts.JoelTurner wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 12:33 pm Here’s a better look at some of the members of the Generosa crew. Re: Visiting the West Side 1963
He seemed to be closely affiliated with this crew; plus he came up during the Granello investigation. Is there anything/anyone specifically saying that he was with the Alo crew other than the 1963 chart?
Re: Visiting the West Side 1963
Just because someone was closely affiliated with this crew doesn't mean he was in the crew. I don't know of any information on Perrotta being in Alo's crew besides the Valachi chart, but you shouldn't just be describing guys like Vito Campo or Perrotta as 'Generosa crew members' based on vague speculation.JoelTurner wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2023 2:58 pm He seemed to be closely affiliated with this crew; plus he came up during the Granello investigation. Also I don't think Granello can be confirmed as a member of the Generosa crew. Carmine 'Fats' Tagliatella described him as a member of the 116th Street Crew and I've seen Granello listed in Thomas Greco's crew aswell.
Unrelated, but Nunzio Russo should probably be removed from the chart. According to Frank Gioia he was just closely associated with the LES guys like Pete DeFeo but wasn't actually made.
