Ok thanks Pogo.Pogo The Clown wrote:And you are missing the point. Ligambi got lots of attention during his run. He was constantly being written about and covered on the news. He even gave an interview to the press for Christ sake. How many activ Bosses have done that? In fact he was one of the most covered Bosses during that time frame. Even more than all the NY Bosses with the exception of Massino and maybe Basciano. By definition he was not low key.
Him getting lucky in a case does not equate to being low key. Using that standard both Scarfo and Merlino were low key because they beat several murder and drug trafficking charges.

Good pointSonnyBlackstein wrote:Merlino made one significant mistake.

This monumental stupidity will cost him several years to reflect that the LCN pyramid is designed specifically for insulation.
He should've been receiving his take from Mazzone, who in turn was getting it from Narduci with some solider under indictment for this charge.
And all three sleeping soundly outside of government digs.
Hope the extra few dollars were worth it to keep Philly out of it.
Unbelievably stupid.

I could see your point, but mine is valid from another vantage point as well. Philly was better off with Ligambi at the helm, obviously. He provided stability when Joey had shit for brains and continues to demonstrate that as soon as he hits the streets. Plus, he's running a multi million dollar scheme and his top guys aren't getting a taste? That's a scumbag. If he was giving them a taste, the Feds are certainly deep in a continuing investigation.Pogo The Clown wrote:And you are missing the point. Ligambi got lots of attention during his run. My conclusion about Snooki is that he's not fit to be a boss of a major mob family. Snooki is bad for business. And that's why he's fucked again.

Why would he give them a kick of his thing with NY? Bosses don't kick down. Ligambi & Mouse pushed Mazzone out of his shy business and took it for themselves while he was away, is that a scumbag move?
For what it's worth, Ligambi wasn't low key, not long after being the top guy he got a big new place down the shore and bought the newest model Cadillac almost every year, he was always walking around with an entourage. He had Long John clipped in broad daylight near center city, that aint low key. The last three or four years before the indictment he was always on tv or in the paper, he wasn't low key, not by any stretch.

You got it. We can add the Ronnie Turchi hit where he was left as trunk music, those big Gotti style Christmas parties every year with the whole family present, him constantly being seen at mob trials, funerals and weddings. Him giving an interview to a reporter, etc. He was not low key at all. There was very little difference between him and Merlino. Skinny Joey was just a little more stylish and marketable.

I guess Pogo and Chucky have more inside knowledge than the Feds, local cops and Anastasia. We could agree to disagree.

Snooki sneezes and gets indicted, Liagmbi is walking free after failed attempts by the Feds...that says something. Snooki runs nothing, he can't even stay out of the can. And at the end of the day, Snooki is bad for business, no?phatmatress777 wrote:Also the gongs hit was in mob talk for years

Re: News video: PA casinos looking to ban Merlino
Really interesting about Ligambi not being low key... I always assumed otherwise
Re: News video: PA casinos looking to ban Merlino
Two different sources who asked not to be identified said Ligambi and his associates could have been generating more than $1 million in income each year from the video-poker-machine operations, which date back several years.

Ligambi also didn't go to work every day. He gets compared to the old school Philly mob in articles and on the boards, but those guys ran businesses and had jobs they went to every day (even if they did conduct mob business while they were there or used them as fronts). He was just a bartender for a large chunk of his life who did some low-level gambling, became a player for a very short amount of time before he went to prison for life, then got out of prison in the late 90s after spending god knows how much money on lawyers in the 80s and 90s and has lived like he's on vacation for the last 15+ years. He hasn't exactly tried to convince anyone he's anything except a gangster.
Does anyone know if he got any kind of reimbursement/settlement from the government after his appeal? I'm not that familiar with how the appeal process works, but my understanding is it's completely different from a wrongful conviction, i.e. Peter Limone, so the government isn't liable. If anyone knows otherwise let me know.

Like I said, we could agree to disagree. I tend to hear the Feds and local law enforcement and George Anastasia's point of view a little louder, that's all I'm saying. No offense
