Below, I've typed the excerpt from Scarpo's book. The text in square brackets is mine.B. wrote:Yep, Amato and Cicale were both jailed together for a time (at the MCC in early 2005 I believe), which is where Cicale says he was told.Pogo The Clown wrote:B. wrote:We can assume that Cicale, who heard this second or third hand via Baldo Amato, did not know the specifics and was simply referring to representatives of Rizzuto who met with Montagna.
Wasn't Amato in prison during this whole period? I think he was in prison from his 1999 bust. He was also indicted for murder in early 2004 before Basciano became Acting Boss. How would Amato have heard about these meetings and tributes and how did he get to tell Cicale?
Pogo
Montagna was close to Amato (Amato being a Castellammarese and another very close friend of Sciascia), so I guess the assumption would be that Montagna told Amato either through a visit or phone call.
"...I [Cicale} was arrested on January 27, 2005. God must have been watching over Michael Nose [Michael Mancuso]." [last sentence of this paragraph]
[next paragraph]
While in the Brooklyn lockup, Cicale was placed with Baldo Amato, one of the family's Zips. "Baldo was facing a life sentence and was still doing time or past crimes," Dominick said. "Baldo was close with Sal 'The Iron Worker.' They had hung out together in Ridgewood at the social clubs. Another year had almost passed and Christmas [2005?] was once again around the corner. But this time I was jailed along with Vinny. Baldo had just received word fom the street that the year when Sal went to Canada to retrieve the $100,000, Vito was extremely upset. They gave Sal shit, but in the end they still paid up. Vinny had the power now (he was named the Bonanno crime family official boss after news was released that Massino was cooperating with the federal government.) ....

Yeah, I found that funny as well. Btw, does anybody know why in many of their quotes there are words in () ? Has that been added or edited by the article author?B. wrote:Funny seeing a big gangster send text messages like "ur ok" and "r u serious".

It just boggles my mind that they would be texting anything at all... I like when they got mad that Simpson used the phone for five minutes. I guess he shoulda stuck to texting

What suprises me is why Desjardins used an amateur such as Simpson to kill Montagna. Perhaps it was his only shot because Montagna was extremely cautious. Also, it's evident that they wanted Montagna to go silently and dispose of the body, instead of making a statement.

It means the words in the parenthesis' weren't apart of the original text messages and added by the authors as corrections or alterations. Simpson seems like an impatient, stupid man. He easily is the liability and the weak link of an otherwise, well crafted murder plot.Lupara wrote:Yeah, I found that funny as well. Simpson was the lynch pin in the plot, how could it be a well crafted murder plot if they put this clown in a key position? It was doomed to fail with this idiot.OlBlueEyesClub wrote:Simpson seems like an impatient, stupid man. He easily is the liability and the weak link of an otherwise, well crafted murder plot.
