Amazing layout. Kinda inspiring actually. Do you or others think we'd be able to do this for the remaining NY four Families as well as where the DeCavs had members in the city?

I'm building a map of NE territories and it got alot more in depth than I envisioned and all I really have remaining is NYC and rather than list Family Names I might include a larger NYC map to the right of the NE US map and map it out by neighborhood.. if we can do the remaining? Otherwise I avoid getting that detailed since I was primarily concerned with Boston down to Baltimore, Newark to Detroit.
Where'd you get Brighton Beach from? Mimi Scalos way dead....Russians there now.

Joseph 'Joe Campy' Campanella & and his "crew of eager wannabes" made Brighton Beach their home turf in the early 2000s. They were involved in just about everything; loansharking, gambling, protection rackets. Some of his rackets included protecting locals from Russian gangsters.
Joseph Baudanza was named by Kenny Gallo as having strong connections to Russian OC in Brighton Beach and was described as the Colombo family's "liaison with the Russian Mob in Brighton Beach and overseas." Baudanza's 2005 indictment also proves he was using Russian guys as enforcers.

And involving the wider Coney Island:
Acting capo Salvatore Castagno's nickname is "Sally from Coney Island."
Angelo Spata's Toy Store Amusements business is based heavily in Coney Island. Toy Store Amusements rents carnival rides and festival games to events around NYC, and Coney Island is the carnival capital of NYC. The mob tie-in here is that Toy Store Amusements is (IIRC) the front for Spata's illegal video gaming rackets (Razzle Dazzle, Joker-Poker, etc.) The scope of this particular racket is pretty big, since Spata controls the Figli di Santa Rosalia and the Genoveses, Gambinos and Bonannos all have a stake in that particular feast. The Genoveses had a sit-down with Spata and Colombo underboss Ben Castellazzo over Razzle Dazzle games in the festival, so Toy Store Amusements is definitely a big deal.
Acting capo Luca DiMatteo (arrested 2015, release 2018) resides in Coney Island.

@GohnJotti: Your depth of knowledge is impressive.

I'm going to include NYC by borough and then other cities, any addendums would be appreciated. (I'm omitting Florida for now, keeping it to the NE). Is every group represented in LI?

GEN: 5 Boroughs, Newark, Springfield, Westchester
LUC: 5 Boroughs, Newark, Westchester
BON: 5 Boroughs, Newark, Montreal
GAM: 5 Boroughs, Newark
COL: Brooklyn, Staten Island, LI

You can add Lucchese to Westchester too. Andrew DiSimone's crew is operating there. Johnny Capra's crew has also been operating there according to indictments from 2005.

@eboli: noted. Thanks.

The Genoveses were in Hartford or New Haven or Stamford correct? I think they extended up there.

Genovese Capo Eugene Onofrio is based in New Haven. He was complaining how he constantly had to travel between New Haven and Springfield. The Colombos have a crew operating in The Bronx.

How about Long term vs Short term activity? For instance the Gen's had people in Springfield since the 20's, how long have the Colombos had a Bronx outpost?

The Colombo crew that's operating in the Bronx is DeLucia's crew, which is the former Aloi crew. Both Aloi and DeLucia were convicted alongside Benny Eggs in the early 90's. Their activity in the area can be traced to the late 80's.

The Aloi group seems to have represented outliers in the family in general. Like the Franzese crew, they had a significant base in Queens/Long Island in addition to Brooklyn earlier than others in the family and while Vinnie Aloi was a captain in the 1960s and 70s, they were the crew Jimmy Burke was on record with. It's not linear, though, because you have Benny Aloi taking over the Persico/Langella crew which included some of his father/brother's earlier interests.

Not to widen the scope of the project, as this is just a pipe dream, but it would be cool to see a "mafia territories" map for different time periods. You would see groups with an interest in a certain region only to see it drop off, while in other cases you would see them branch into new areas for a time and see which parts of their territory stay consistent like a timelapse. You might also be able to pick up on territorial trends among all of the groups. It would be difficult because it's hard to say when certain families first officially set up shop in some areas and we can't always confirm they dropped out of certain places just because there hasn't been recent public info, and that's aside from the headache it would be sorting through the info we already know.

You're right, eboli. Now that I go over my notes, it's clear to me that DeLucia is probably more Bronx-based than Brooklyn-based. I'd previously thought he was mostly Brooklyn-based with a few things going on in the Bronx but that's not the case.

DeLucia served (IIRC) eleven years in the Windows case. He was released in 2002.

DeLucia's activity in the Bronx from 2002-2011;
  • DeLucia ran multiple gambling parlors in the Bronx
  • DeLucia shook down the owner/operators of a rival gambling parlor in the Bronx
  • DeLucia was involved in loansharking; one of his customers was Bronx-based Colombo associate Calogero 'Louie Cannoli' Borgognone.
DeLucia's activity in Brooklyn from 2002-2011;
  • DeLucia was involved in a Joker-Poker operation with Brooklyn-based Colombo associates Roger Califano, Angelo 'Little Angelo' Spata, and Louis 'Louie Ices' Venturelli, as well as Brooklyn-based Lucchese associate Giovanni 'John' Galluzzo.
  • DeLucia was partners in a loansharking business with Dyker Heights-based Colombo soldier Joseph Savarese.
  • DeLucia frequently hired Dyker Heights-based Colombo mobsters Ilario 'Fat Larry' Sessa and Joseph Savarese to collect gambling/loanshark/shakedown debts.
When you first look at DeLucia's 2011 indictment, and the people he worked with, it seems he's pretty Brooklyn-based. But if you look at it in context, the 2011 Colombo indictment was based around the work of Tommy McLaughlin, a Dyker Heights mob associate. So naturally, the charges against DeLucia are only going to revolve around his work with Brooklyn mobsters.

Also, DeLucia lives in the Bronx and owns another property further north. So, in hindsight, he's probably more Bronx-based than Brooklyn-based.
