I'm a big fan as well. One of things I miss about living in the Bx.

What are your top coal oven spots? I'll admit to being biased as I lived around the corner a while back, but I used to enjoy the original Patsy's (1st Ave and 118). Liked the simplicity and thinness of their pies. Haven't eaten there in quite some time so not sure how well it's held up.
The only places I know that use coal are the original Patsy's and Totonnos - I'd say those are 1A and 1B. I'm not sure but the original Lombardi's may use coal but it's too touristy and expensive. If I were an out of towner I'd pass by Spring Street to visit for sure, though. Original Patsy's is probably my favorite place out of anywhere - you can still get a large (plain) pie for cheap there and it's such a cool spot.

This is refreshing to hear, because here I was picturing these younger South Philly guys partying to Blavat spinning hits from Dion and the Chi-Lites. I always thought "these younger guys are really into that shit?!?"

Philly itself has always had a top tier A++ DJ culture. So many insanely good DJs have came out of that city. Not sure how it's been lately and with COVID, forget about it, but for years on Friday and Saturday all over the city there were some of the best DJs in the world playing - lots of them local. Silk City Diner on Spring Garden (or around Spring Garden?) was a great spot. Before he hit the big time, super producer Diplo used to have a spot in North Philly that tripled as his apartment, a recording studio, and a venue space. Some great events were held at that spot.
The young guys love Blavat. They’re down the shore at Memories every weekend in the summer. Jerry loves them.
