here is something interesting
https://nypost.com/2005/09/06/loan-shar ... -gambinos/
ive never heard this anywhere else, but this old NY POST article from 2005 regarding a very low level teenage associate (some may recgonize the name for his allegedly racially charged howard beach attack) mentions that Ronald Trucchio was "babysitting" Nick Corozzos crew as of 1997 while Nick was in jail
first i have ever, ever heard of this. and the post may not be the best source. AND "babysitting" may mean just helping, not acting capo...
but i found it interesting. anyone else ever hear/read this?

Re: Nicky corozzo
I don't remember but there were several guys on the panel at one time or another in the 1990s, including when Junior was acting boss. I think Failla was.JeremyTheJew wrote: ↑Mon Jun 11, 2018 7:55 pmI don't remmember who was the real acting boss at that time? Was it the panel with him, Jackie d Amico, and (??? Gammarano???)Wiseguy wrote: ↑Mon Jun 11, 2018 3:56 pmYes, Pogo is saying that was a claim made by several people on the forums over the years and it was shown not to be true. And yes lota rumors on him. If he wouldn't get busted he had good chance.
Anyoe remembered Gene saying give him the spot?
I do remember reading articles that said Corozzo looked to be the guy to take over if Gotti Sr. stepped down but he was busted in 1997 and it never happened. He has always remained a well respected captain with an active crew but hes never been the real boss or power behind the throne like some on the forums claimed.

Re: Nicky corozzo
But the thing is I wasn't trying to claim that he held the position of boss or acting poss or whatever. I was just stating that during the time that Pete had the reigns, everyone looked to Nicky more or less for family matters and seemed like he had more respect on the street than Pete. That's why I stated that when Pete was considered the boss, Nicky was really guiding the family... not in an official position and probsbly without petes knowledge even that Nicky was more influential in matters than Pete even realized.Wiseguy wrote: ↑Mon Jun 11, 2018 3:56 pmYes, Pogo is saying that was a claim made by several people on the forums over the years and it was shown not to be true. Re: Nicky corozzo
I'll go as far as to agree that Corozzo held a lot of weight in the family. But to say he was guiding the family seems to suggest he was the sole power behind the throne, the defacto boss so to speak, and I think thats overstating his role. He was one of several influential guys. And when people overstate Corozzo's role, they have tended to understate Peter Gotti. While he is a figurehead now, he wasn't when he was on the street.chubby wrote: ↑Mon Jun 11, 2018 9:25 pmBut the thing is I wasn't trying to claim that he held the position of boss or acting poss or whatever. Re: Nicky corozzo
Also Scars said it wasn't true that Nick was going to take Gotti's place as boss in the mid 90s.
Re: Nicky corozzo
Nicky was in prison at the time Peter Gotti was acting and then official boss.chubby wrote: ↑Mon Jun 11, 2018 9:25 pmBut the thing is I wasn't trying to claim that he held the position of boss or acting poss or whatever. Re: Nicky corozzo
If you are going back to the original panel John Gotti named to run the family, that had Juniy and Pete Gotti, DiAmico, Fallia, and Lou Vallero, according to Scars. Corozzo wasn't on the panel till Fallia went to jail or prison. So he took Fallias spot. Scars said no that Nick was never going to replace John Gotti as boss. Also I believe it has been proven that DiAmico was acting boss,in that time period after Nick got out of prison in around 2005.Wiseguy wrote: ↑Mon Jun 11, 2018 3:56 pmYes, Pogo is saying that was a claim made by several people on the forums over the years and it was shown not to be true. Re: Nicky corozzo
Yeah, D'Amico was the acting boss and indicted as such in 2008.Frank wrote: ↑Mon Jun 11, 2018 10:12 pmIf you are going back to the original panel John Gotti named to run the family, that had Juniy and Pete Gotti, DiAmico, Fallia, and Lou Vallero, according to Scars. Re: Nicky corozzo
Yes , I think alot of people anticipated that when Corozzo got out of prison ,and with Peter Gotti in prison, that Nicky would be the new boss. There has been no facts that have come out of him ever being boss, besides the few years he was on the ruling panel. I agree with you that he is a power in the Family, but never acting or official boss.Wiseguy wrote: ↑Mon Jun 11, 2018 10:14 pmYeah, D'Amico was the acting boss and indicted as such in 2008.Frank wrote: ↑Mon Jun 11, 2018 10:12 pmIf you are going back to the original panel John Gotti named to run the family, that had Juniy and Pete Gotti, DiAmico, Fallia, and Lou Vallero, according to Scars.
