Yeah, the 40-50 estimate is both the 2004 New Jersey OC report and Capeci in 2005.
that's 11 and 10yrs old ! lol

Yes and that is pretty recent info. The family certainly hasn't doubled in size since then. The numbers would be about the same today.

This same source had Nigro as Underboss and did not have Stango as a captain prior to them being labeled as such by the fbi, he insists they are mis-identified in the indictment. He says Nigro has since been knocked down to soldier and will more then likely be shelved if he beats this case. Make of it what you will.
That info is simply false. Sounds like the inflated figure on Ed Scarpo's blog.

Yup. Not to mention that that 80 figure is also impossible since NY capped their memberhip limit at 75. Vinny Palermo also claimed that the family had 46 members in the fall of 1999. It is not entirely clear if he meant Soldiers or total members. Either way the number would not have been bigger than the mid 50s. So factoring in all the members they have lost since then the family would have had to almost tripple in size ince 1999 to reach that 70-80 figure.

Yeah, the closest I have actually scene in the actual obituary was Tony Civellas, and it only referenced "although he only fathered 5 children, he was a father figure to many many others".

Torsten Ove of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette has done many like that...and he's been criticized mercifully for it...but I agree, some of these guys don't deserve to be spoken of in the highest regard...but their families do deserve some respect. Nobody should be penalized for the sins of their father, husband grandfather etc. did any reporters in KC do any pieces on these guys after death?

I never stated that they doubled? Where did you get that from ? But 10yrs is not a recent by any means. If they made that Squid Guido with the pony tail(the one Stango wanted to kill) then I am sure they have made quite a few other guys as well. Not saying they have 100 members though. Just stating that 10yrs is not recent. 5yrs maybe. lol

This is what you wrote.

Fact: we have no idea if its 40-59 members or 50-70members today.

Considering all of the members they have lost over the last 16 years they would have to more than double in size to get to 60 or 70 members today.

Vinny Palermo said they had 46 members in the fall of 1999. Since then they have lost at least 21 members (probably more) due to deaths and defections. That leaves about 25 members left. Between 2000-2006 they made 12 new members so that would put them at 37. They have also had at least one more ceremony recently where at least one new member (Luigi Oliveri) was made. I'm sure there were more members made than that so that would put them over 40 and into the 40-50 range.

So like the other east coast families they are maintaining their membership levels.

Wiseguy..pogo I am aware that you don't agree you both make a good point and its hard to argue with but for me personally Im not ready to rule out the possibility that the family has grown unbeknownst to the public in last 5-10 years based on what Ive been told.

If I remember right, Andy Gerardo in Jersey's mentioned a "special group of men he was close to." His personal family wrote it and seemed to be referencing his crew.

I remember that about Andy's Obituary. I was surprised they wrote that in there. Every one would know they weren't referring to the Knights of Columbus! Lol

But we do have an idea because of the info that has come out. That is the whole point.

Maybe in your mind but in reality it is not. The family's size didn't drastically change from 2005. Since then old members have died and new members were made to replace some of them. They are still the same general size today.
