It was his son Mark. He hung himself when I think he was 16 or 17. His lawyer told him the news and apparently did not even skip a beat. The only ‘avenging’ was Nicky writing to his wife through prison and blamed Mark’s death on her.
He survived the attempt no?
Yea, he survived and lived for quite a while after in a vegetative state I believe. Terrible for anyone to have to live like that

No direct information on that which is somewhat weird considering Bill Bonanno wrote a couple of books on his life. When he was made, he was basically based out in Arizona before moving back to NY. In one of his books, he does mention Giuseppe Venza as being a crew leader within the Bonanno Family. Venza was based in California so chances are Bill was made under him. That would be my guess. Bill was made a captain in 1959 and headed over a crew of (what appears to be) New York based made men.
There you have it, never printed before.

Has anyone heard the word "geepish" before to describe the Italian-style architectural features of some of the houses in New York (balusters, marble, etc.)? Is that how you spell it?
I don't know dick about dick.

A geep is an off the boat Italian so geepish used in that context is describing a gaudy house more in the European style. Shit like gold fences, lion statues, fancy awnings and marble like you mentioned. Things normal Americans would never have on or in their homes.

I’ve never heard anyone use the word like that but I understand what they’re implying perfectly.

One would think that having to kick up at all leaves a bad taste in the mouth of a lot of gangsters. Especially those who like to earn mainly by stealing, who are used to taking, not giving
Then you might get situations where some guy you never met gets put as boss. Maybe a guy the crew doesn't think deserves to be boss and who got the job through some kind of nepotism. And now this boss is going to be taking cuts of these guys
And doing what with the money? Spending it all on his own comforts of life?
Maybe if it went for the common good of the crew, such as taking care of families of stand up guys in prison

Without conspiracy or speculation are there any definitive cases where a member got killed for not coming in.
