Interesting, Genovese became a member of Combaneesh or mafia in 1923?

Deleting Alfonso Allardi, I think they meant Alfonso Attardi who was Gambino.

Joel -- That set of lists comes up sometimes, has interesting stuff but there are errors for some of the Families. I don't know enough but the Genovese but I'd be conservative if they don't show up elsewhere

LCNBios ID'd John DelDuca as actually being John DeMarco.

Any ideas? It's like the Genoveses were so forward thinking they bribed immigration scribes, "In 100 years, some asshole is going to try and look us up on something called ancestry, don't make it easy on him."

The Westside -- always 50 moves ahead.

Who was this for? Looks like the person was travelling with people from Potenza province (Ripacandida). The dialetti spoke in Basilicata can be pretty extreme, I've seen comuni there spelled oddly in passenger manifests as I believe some of the people on the ships would've had a hard time understanding some of these Potentini.

It's a tough one. These mainlander families with the Genovese seem to change the spelling in their names a lot.

If Giuseppe's actual surname was Biello, then my bet would be that he was most likely Molisano; secondarily, from Campania. But, it very well could've actually been Bello, Di Bello, Lo Bello, etc instead. I note that the mother's name was given as Concetta Marciano, which really doesn't help to narrow it down much.

Just based on the info that Biele's dad gave on the 1920 census (born 1883, arrived in the US in 1901), the best match that I see is Giuseppe Bello, born in 1883 and arrived in 1901 bound for brother Antonio in Brooklyn. Birthplace seems to be Pietraroia, Benevento. No idea if it's the right guy, as the Biellos/Bieles obviously wound up in the Bx.

The document lists his name as Mike Barreal and Barese as a nickname.

I haven’t looked him up so I don’t know. I guess we have another “Chee Gusae” situation where Valachi probably butchered a name he was trying to remember from decades prior.

Yup, I spotted a few errors with a quick skim through. There’s a handful of names that I’d stick with like Frank Caggiano.

I've never seen Benny or Salvatore on any lists, but the others were confirmed as Genovese members.

For a while, the FBI listed Thomas Campisi as a Philadelphia member along with Carmine Battaglia and Joseph "Joe Polo" Parlavecchio. I'm not sure what they were basing this on. Parlavecchio is also listed as a Genovese on the Mafia Membership chart; he was definitely made but I don't know if he was a confirmed Genovese member.

Campisi's a common name but I'm concerned with these two:

Charles Campisi
Thomas Campisi

Do we have additional information on their affiliation?
