Yeah, looking forward to second half. We aren't out of this wildcard thing yet. I don't think we'll touch KC but wildcard is a possibility!

I thought the same thing but they've been playing some great ball lately. Only 4 games back from .500. No way they win the division but I think they at least have a chance at the wildcard. See how they play the next 10 games after the all star break and that will be a good indicator.Pete wrote:Sox have been out since opening dayMeatball wrote:Hey, what did I say about mistakes?!?NickyEyes1 wrote:Fuck me , *sox

This weekend series with the Royals will be a good test for us. Hope to see some good stuff from the White Sox.NickyEyes1 wrote:I thought the same thing but they've been playing some great ball lately. Only 4 games back from .500. Re: Mobster Attire
I've posted about the way Rudy dressed on the other boards many, many times. So has Charlie. And everything that Bruno posted is true right down to the letter. What was even funnier was when he'd stroll the neighborhood with Joe D in his XXXXL bowling shirts that he had to have special ordered for himself at B and G on 187th. It was a fucking sight. Like two Roman Emperors dressed by Siegfried and Roy. But I loved them both. I can't believe Joe's gone for close to twenty years. And poor Rudy didn't leave much behind. So much for every Westside skipper being loaded (Prisco's another example). But try telling that to people from Missouri .Bruno187 wrote:Wish I had some pictures, but by far the best (or worst depending on your criteria) dressed gangster had to be Rudy Santobello in the late 80's to early 90's.
It was common for him to dress in a single color with different shades from head to toe....whether it be canary yellow, mint green, pink....with matching shoes, socks, tie...the whole nine.
Now not to belabor the point, but try to picture this...mint green patent leather shoes, nylon mint green socks, mint green slacks, some kind of checked mint green jacket over a mint green french cuff shirt with the pointed collars. Really impeccably put together---but the thing is--everything was mint green. And tomorrow would be a similar outfit in canary yellow. The good old days.

So much for the Westside flying under the radar and Gotti getting credited with the original flashy dresser/gangster 'label' (ahem).
I'm surprised Chin didnt slap the green straight off his suit.
If you think that's flashy, maybe Bruno will mention the one about what Barney wore to the wedding of a made Genovese guys daughter..

He couldn't fit in an 8x10, and they haven't invented a photo program with enough pixels to properly post his picture online. But I'll try to dig something up and email it to you .SonnyBlackstein wrote:Any photos of Joe Dente?
I'm joking, of course. Not about his build. He looked like a washing machine with a head. But he was one of the all time great guys, as far as those guys go. And you know I'm not shy when it comes to pointing out who the scumbags were.

My old man used to play ball with him when they were young and told me he was actually a pretty good ball player...as he got older he did begin to resemble a washing machine in that he was 5 feet tall and 5 feet wide. He also said you wouldn't want to get hit by him.
But I do remember myself that he was one of the most down to earth and best humored wiseguys you would ever meet. Always in a good mood and joking around. Generous to a fault too, which is definitely not a common trait in this group.

You could joke with him about his weight IN FRONT OF OTHER PEOPLE, and he'd laugh his ass off. Sometimes he'd pretend to get up and chase you around a little bit, but he was belly laughing the entire time. Now, how many guys in his position could you even joke with like that?Bruno187 wrote:My old man used to play ball with him when they were young and told me he was actually a pretty good ball player...as he got older he did begin to resemble a washing machine in that he was 5 feet tall and 5 feet wide. Your Dad would have definitely remembered Joe playing handball at Ciccarone. Even after he blew up he could still move around a little bit for someone so squat. Vinny Artuso used to play a lot of handball there, too. And he was a helluva player himself.

All that Reggie Van Gleason, "M'boy are you fat." Things have changed around here. I'm the boss of this fucking family. You don't make fun of me.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.
