Can’t remember if this has been talked about before, but are there any other examples of a single captain overseeing two crews?
Rooster Onofrio
Technically, it's the same crew now. Especially considering there is virtually nobody left in Springfield.
All roads lead to New York.

If a guy who's being chased has to sell his house and move, does he have to kick if his house made a profit?

Wise men want to know. :D
That'd be hilarious

I feel like I remember reading, probably in that Basciano book which is pretty much based off these transcripts + his old heroin trial coverage, that Pizzolo was "nicely" chased and Cicale told him hey for your own good you should go to Florida, Vinny is really upset, etc. , and they even had a job for him lined up down there. Pizzolo didn't seem like that bad of a guy, not any worse than the rest of them anyway - just an average street guy. Pissed off the wrong person one too many times I guess. Killing him did the exact opposite of what Basciano intended.

It's also hilarious that people have been trying to kill this Joseph Bonelli kid (well, grown man now...) for over 20 years lmao

You can argue maybe not to this since his own brother in law and 'closest' captains flipped on him, but Massino seemed like he had his finger on the pulse of everything that was going on in his family. He kept track of a shitload of guys and what they were all up to, what they felt, what they were making, who liked who, who had problems with who, etc. - non stop. I know that's a big part of what anyone in his position does but it seems like he really had a rain man type of quality when he came to everyone under him across the board and what they had going on. Regardless of being almost the physical size of one, he really did have the memory of an Elephant too

It's pretty insane that this Altadonna approached Massino's daughter to pass a message to him like that. Seems like the kind of move that could very easily get a guy killed. Maybe it speaks to how dangerous and unpredictable the guys on the street considered Mancuso to be. Man, it just seems like Mancuso has been a complete cancer on the Bonanno family. The decision to induct him has worked out about as well as his first wife's decision to marry him.

How many total recorded conversations were there between Massino and Basciano?

Two things we've heard about Massino are evident here:

- Very witty and funny guy. Fiordilino described him as "Jackie Gleason".

- Talks shit behind people's backs. Plays people against each other. Definitely apparent in these conversations.

In the Tartaglione wiretap transcripts, Basciano seems really elusive to talk about certain subjects and seems coy to a certain degree...these Massino transcripts are a totally different story...Vinny talks freely about anything Massino asks...who would of thought the Feds would flip a boss and one of Joe Massino's magnitude at that...it's almost unfair...anyone in that family would have unwittingly engaged in those conversations with Massino...I'd say Vinny never thought twice about it

You'd say it was unfair, but Vinny dodged his bullet with the blue heroin case. He was looking at a slam dunk life sentence. Yet he walked.
Even his lawyer told him he was given a second chance, walk away.

He didn't. No one else to blame.

That was Michael Palmaccio and he was shelved for a year. Didn't have to sell his house.

It is funny, but it was obviously more than that. Maybe he was trying to not get into specifics talking to Massino in jail?

That was Michael Palmaccio and he was shelved for a year. Didn't have to sell his house.
Jerry and Vinny Asaro did try to force him out of the neighborhood:
B. wrote: Wed Dec 16, 2020 11:52 pm - After Mike Palmaccio was inducted into the Bonanno family, there was an issue because Palmaccio put a photo of himself shirtless on the internet and also posted the quote "A friend will help you move, but a real friend will help you move a body." This was a source of embarrassment for the crew and soldier John Ragano and captain Vincent Asaro were recorded commenting on it to Gary Valenti.

Q - Ragano says, "He's on the Internet with his T-shirt off, and a friend will help you move, but a real friend will help you move a body." What was your understanding of what Ragano was telling you and the defendant?
A - That a wiseguy-- a normal friend will help you move, but a wiseguy will help you move a body.
Q - But who would put that on the Internet?
A - Palmaccio.
Q - And who had his shirt off on the Internet?
A - Palmaccio.
Q - Then at line 32, the defendant (Asaro) says, "What is he even doing on the Internet?" What was your understanding of why Mike Palmaccio was not supposed to be on the Internet?
A - You don't advertise that life.

After discussing Palmaccio's internet activities, Ragano said: "I'll go to jail in five minutes, but I don't want to go to jail for these stupid motherfuckers, Vin."

Jerry Asaro decided to shelve Palmaccio for the shirtless internet photo. Vincent Asaro was recorded telling Valenti that Jerry didn't have the right to shelve Palmaccio, only the boss could do it. Jerry attempted to drive Palmaccio out of the neighborhood and Vincent Asaro told Palmaccio to sell his house.

Yes, this is was all because of a shirtless internet photo.
