I’d say Joe, Dino and all the Pistons have targets on their backs now. Maybe the Bonanno’s let a little time pass before they retaliate but they have to retaliate or they may as well give up the whole fucking borgata.

I'd imagine the impulse would be to do something violent in response. For a while after the Coddington Club incident, Aiello and Spirito were looking to kill one of the Lucchese guys who sat on Carl Ulzheimer's house.

I see a 1991-1993 Columbo war brewing. The "thinning of the herd" is timely for the Bonanno family and I especially want to see Johnny Joe Spirito gone forever!

Thanks for posting. Not what I was expecting in todays gangland.

Wasn’t Joe Grimaldi identified as a Captain (acting captain?) at one point? I found it interesting that Capeci labeled him as an “inducted soldier” in the article.

Surely Mancuso has to respond to this but i don’t think he will kill Cammarano
As the Mouw quote in the article said, "They're still doing the beatings and the strong-arm stuff. But, as far as Mob hits, they're not happening.” It seems things have to get to an extreme level these days for a hit. Unlike the old day where things like this could easily result in several murders.
chin_gigante wrote: Thu Jul 28, 2022 2:33 am Mancuso doesn't have a great track record. Almost started a war with the Lucchese Family in 2012. Almost had a Bonanno civil war in 2015. Now potentially starting one in 2022.
That's why I didn't find this latest dust up particularly shocking. Whether it be the Meldish beating, the confrontation with the Luccheses, or this, Mancuso seems to be pretty quick to resort to this stuff. I realize some find them fascinating but the Bonannos are a cluster.

On a side note, seems the Genovese family's involvement with Cement Masons Local 780 has continued since Nigro had union official Frank Dadabo shot back in 2003.

I wonder if they'll take Mancuso off the street like they did to Palazzolo back in 2015 to try to calm tensions. Or would that only escalate things. They already have Mancuso for parole violations.

The big question to me is why the fuck does Mikey Nose gives a shit if Joe C who is on the shelf goes to his father in laws funeral who was also on the shelf?

I would have thought he would want to keep all his guys away from that whole scene. Feds were probably parked right outside

I would add that, on some level I suppose Mancuso has a right to be paranoid, considering what happened while he was in prison. But this seems like a needless altercation considering the familial connection between Cammarano and the Grimaldis. Maybe Mancuso wants Cammarano isolated as much as possible and didn't like the idea of him intermingling with other Bonanno members at the wake? As for Cammarano, while perhaps he feels justified considering he was shelved, it definitely doesn't look good having outside bikers getting involved in an internal LCN dispute.

Important to take into consideration right now the fact that Mancuso is currently facing his violation and that could be informing a lot of the internal politics and decisions leading up to this.

Going to these lengths to isolate Cammarano ans keep him down could be bitterness over what happened in 2017, but it could also be intended to preemptively shut down any attempt to get back in if Mancuso does return to prison.

It is noteworthy that Cammarano had the support of the majority of the Captains during his time in charge, both when he was elected Acting Boss in 2015, and apparently still when he held the vote to be put in as official two years later. Plus, we have two member sources (Lovaglio and Pennisi) acknowledging that Cammarano improved the Bonanno Family's standing with the other Families, particularly the Lucchese Family.

It's possible that the RICO indictment against Cammarano is what gave Mancuso the upper hand in reclaiming the Family back in 2018. Take into account the fact that FBI intervention is what eliminated Cammarano's opposition in 2015, it stands to reason Mancuso could be concerned about what might happen if he goes away.

One thing I don’t get, is that since Grimaldi, his son and son in law were shelved, why not just bar all the members in good standing from going to the funeral and maybe just send one guy to keep an eye out on things if former members of the rival faction showed up? Mancuso turned it into a dick measuring contest and came out as the looser.
