Re: John Pennisi: The Tim Tebow of the Mafia
I'm just catching up to the episodes now, I listen rather than watch them on YouTube and I guess the app is a bit behind. I have to say that reading through the lines of Pennisi's story of the woman, especially knowing that he ended up smashing her teeth out, he comes off as kind of a controlling psycho. Going through her phone and shit. Why didn't he just walk away? I only listened to about 15 or 20 minutes of the first episode they did with that Benita lady. But I heard enough (plus they referenced it a lot in the following episodes) to get that the gist of it was that Pennisi is trying to compare his situation - becoming infatuated and obsessively violent with a woman who he should have had more of a casual "fuck buddy" type of relationship - with this lady who was manipulated by a sociopath. I'm guessing John never told Benita that he assaulted the woman who "victimized" him.

If nobody sees it, it didn't happen.

The thing with the MBA and Button Man podcast is, you have to wade through quite a bit of uninteresting stuff to get a few good insights or info here and there. I wonder if they're not far off from Tom doing a video on how often John cuts his toenails.
All roads lead to New York.

I think there's plenty of good content. Yes, there's some crap i dont care about like what kind of advice they would give to a CEO, but the personal interactions he's had with current Luchese members are stories quite frankly youre not getting anywhere else.
Part of their problem is that they are trying to put too much out there so sometimes they are struggling to find things to talk about im sure.

I agree Funk - way too much out there and I think most of the best stuff has already been said. A guy like Pennisi has more stories from prison than on the street - and honestly, those prison stories are some of my favorites. He did a ton of time and I think those stories about guys like Cookie D'Urso and Crazy Sal behind bars are some of the better ones. Pennisi did nearly two decades in east coast prisons so he met a lot of connected people. Not sure another guy out there talking today did that amount of time -
Same with Jimmy Calandra - most of his better stories are how these guys interacted in prison.
Also like the Tony Mosciatello content - Pennisi must have had run-ins with Bud Zaccaro too.

Not a specific in the can story for JP, but the stuff about Ronnie G calling out Ally Trucchio i think it was from his prison cell was priceless.SolarSolano wrote: ↑Mon May 24, 2021 12:52 pm I agree Funk - way too much out there and I think most of the best stuff has already been said. Personally i think that John Pennisi committed a lot more violence during his Lucchese days. But I doubt Pennisi will ever paint himself out to be the bad guy he was. Pennisi is giving us the PG version of his old life IMO. I definitely get the feeling he’s leaving out a lot of shit that may not reflect well on him, in terms of getting incriminated. He seems like one of those guys that might snap and go off the rails some day, end up back in prison or something.mafiastudent wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 5:07 pmHe doesn't brag because the only violence he committed was shooting and killing a guy over a girl and violently assaulting a woman because he thought she was having an affair with Eugene Castelle. By violently assaulting, I mean he punched her so hard in the face, he knocked her teeth out. You can go back through the threads for the documentation on those two things.Nick Prango wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 4:41 pm John Pennisi on his podcast and other interviews comes across as very humble. Not once did he brag about violence he committed or how much money he made. He never seems like he’s bragging. Also he is a good storyteller. It makes you almost feel like you are there with him. I admit that i enjoy watching Pennisi's stuff on youtube.
Also they're apparently charging 500 for a one hour session and 300 for a 1/2 hour session - at least two people have said that in the comments. And it's more if you want to add in one of their other informant friends. I'm not sure what kind of business advice either one of them is going to give considering....do a little digging and you'll be surprised at what you find. Here's a start...follow the trail to see where it leads you.

It's always right there. He gets dark during certain stories, like the recent one about the guy vaguely hinting at threatening him over the fireworks stuff.Nick Prango wrote: ↑Mon May 24, 2021 1:56 pmPersonally i think that John Pennisi committed a lot more violence during his Lucchese days. Pennisi's problem is that "he's a street Neapolitan, always schemin', worse than a Sicilian." *Round of laughter.
Kidding aside, he has yet to say anything that made me raise my eyebrows unlike the other ones out there. Take Alite for example:

Let these guys keep talking, the truth will eventually come out over time.

"Well, Tom, you know Big John gets his pedicure every week and he doesn't want any of the 'friends' in his crew to have better toenails than him. But see, Big John gets lazy and doesn't get his nails done for weeks, months, so we all had to grow ours out, too. 'Sideburns' was wearing socks with his sandals for six months."
