Any idea why they moved him to Brooklyn..? That is not where they send people to do their time unless they are from NY and are serving under a year or two.
See mayo face is a piece of shit for this. Dame is solid from anyone I've ever heard that would know better. He's on his way back from philly and they make a stop in Brooklyn during transit. After mayo put that up someone asked if he flipped in a comment and his wife cleared that shit up in the next comment. He's about to be home anyway.
Mayo Face? On his way home? I thought he got 11yrs in 2013? What am I missing here?
Shratweiser or however you spell it tweeted about it raising suspicion and like I said his wife cleared it up by saying he was on the way back from philly to Danbury and they stop in Brooklyn for transit. He's up for parole in three years. In the Feds you pretty much get your date once you serve your 85%. If someone can't hang in there for another three years , especially when they already did most of their bid then they're in the wrong business. From my experience once you get into your last few years of a stretch, especially one like his where he got double digits, they say your own your way home. Sorry if I confused anyone.
I thought parole was done away with in the federal prison system?

He really is rolling the dice. I don't care how dirty the feds played the case. If the case makes it to trial it doesn't matter. The judge will steer the trial to focus on the accused crimes of the defendents. He has a rep that the jury will not be able to get past.

Question for the Philly guys, do you think that the case against Merlino is weaker than the Ligambi case from 2011 where he was acquitted?

Yes. Joey has more CI tapes that will be played in court & MANY others pled out already.
If the jury knows about the other pleas, it could sway them.

Joey's got one of the best lawyers in the business though, this is no cliché. Jacobs really is the business for federal criminal defense, which is probably a big reason he's taking the chance that he is. I think the bigger issue probably was that the plea he was offered involved a recommendation and as a three time federal felon would leave him susceptible to a big sentencing hit where the judge just as easily give him eight years like Parello instead of four. Combined with the fact that they for sure will be gunning for him in the next Philly indictment why not roll the dice now and maybe buy yourself 2-3 more years on the street without restrictions before your next trial. He knows they will never leave him alone.

Gangster claims accused Philly mobster was an instrumental player despite his insistence he’s left it behind

Image
Joseph “Skinny Joey” Merlino’s courtroom claim that he gave up his role as Philly’s leading mob boss didn’t carry much weight with Wednesday’s witness.

John Rubio, an admitted gangster who worked with the Genovese family, testified in Manhattan Federal Court that Merlino was always a major underworld player — despite his attorneys’ claims he’d left the game for good.

Federal authorities say that Merlino, 55, helped orchestrate a criminal enterprise that ran from Springfield, Mass. to South Florida. The crime boss was arrested in August 2016 in a sweep that nabbed some four dozen alleged mobsters.

Merlino’s lawyers have sought to paint the reputed gangster as a man with a serious gambling problem who was only talking to Rubio about borrowing cash.

After Merlino got out of federal lock up in 2011 — when he did time on different charges — he decamped to South Florida rather than return to Philadelphia, his lawyers said. There, he wanted to live in peace with his family and four dogs, according to defense attorneys.

But Rubio said in his testimony Wednesday that the former South Philly boss “did a couple money-making schemes together. We became friends.”

The two met in 2013 while Rubio was working as federal informant, he told the court room. He was charged with recording his converstations with alleged mobsters — and gangland gossip implicated Merlino as big figure.

“He was the boss of the Philadelphia crime family,” some of Rubio’s underworld associates told him, he told the court.

Rubio rose through the ranks of the Genovese family as a crime figure himself. But his progress stopped in 2011 when he was collared for allegedly dealing coke. Rubio admitted on the stand that he became a rat for self-serving reasons.

“I didn’t want to go to jail,” he answered, when asked what prompted his decision to act as an informant.

Merlino’s lawyers have criticized the credibility of Rubio and other witnesses, claiming that they’re trying to save themselves at the expense of their client.

Well in Merlino case it’s quite obv he’s guilty and he never left the mob
Gotti on the other hand was not on tape and actually did quit
Correct-a-mondo.. I think a NY jury might convict Merlino. I think he is dumb to go to trial. But hey he like the attention.
Bingo Rocco! He’s in love with himself. A fucking disgrace to old school LCN. This guy is a fucking asshole, I hope the Feds get this douchebag off the streets and he gets a long prison sentence that is “for good.” Either way, his life is shit.
I agree. He should get 20yrs just for driving around in a White Rolls without a legit source of income. Shit for Brains. Best he could come up with is working as a Hostess in a restaurant. Open a fucking business with your money. And he is upset he got arrested. So stressed hes got heart problems. What did he think LE was going to do ? Buy him and ice cream cone and say have a nice day Joey ? Some guys have it...some guys just don't...
How the hell do you know he has no legit forms of income? Have you seen his financials? He isn't being charged with tax evasionin and Merlino clearly has plenty of legitimately wealthy people around him.

In August, Don Michael Petullo, a former Las Vegas businessman who worked in the casino industry, registered a company, DNS Inc., at Merlino’s Boca Raton address.

I find it hilarious that he says he is always broke..and I believe it 100%. The Philly Borgata isn't bringing in anywhere near what they once did. No more "big money." This fucking guy doesn't have two nickels to rub together and he's a boss? Regardless if he has Jacobs for a defense, guarantee Joey had to scrimp and chase money for a deposit with this guy.

He doesn't just the restaurant. Which is now gone. If he had a business in his name it would be all over the place and the news. Merlino prob hasn't filed a tax return since 1986...
