I got my books mixed up for a minute. You're right, Jilly Rizzo is Sinatras friend, overtly mentioned by Jimmy Fratianno in The Last Mafioso. Pistones Jilly was Jilly Greco.HairyKnuckles wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2017 9:44 amNo. Jilly Rizzo was a friend of Frank Sinatra´s.OlBlueEyesClub wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2017 8:47 am Great thread, finally a bit of information in regards to the lowkey Gambino crew in Baltimore. In the Mary Ferrell doc mentioned above, is the "Rizzo who owns Jilly's on 52nd Street" the same Jilly Rizzo, that Pistone mentions being associated with early on during his UC operation?

Will do but i need to find out how to post photos on the website, I'm still new on this site.
Re: Info on Gambino Baltimore crew
Yes he is in there. The Maryland section isn't that many pages. If anyone doesn't have the book I will post the photos if you want. The book is really cheap from Amazon and if you don't have it I recommend it. I end up thumbing through it all the time.

While on that topic in the New York section there is a Giorgio Gigliotti listed. Wonder if he was related to the Joseph Gigliotti of the Baltimore crew? Limey's blog has Giorgio Gigliotti as a Gambino.

Joe Tamburello's brother Nicoline "Nick" Tamburello was a racketeer in Youngstown before he was deported to Italy. Nick Tamburello was connected to Joe DiCarlo and some known Youngstown figures like Fats Aiello and Charles Cavallero, so he was definitely involved in the life. Not sure what the exact circumstances were for his deportation, but this is another connection between the Gambino Baltimore crew and Youngstown. There is turning out to be a lot of overlap between Baltimore/Youngstown/Pittsurgh, with Connecticut even working its way in (through Iacovetti and Joe N. Gallo), and that's just based on a limited sample of info. I couldn't figure out where the Tamburellos come from in Italy, but most Tamburellos I could find are Sicilian.

Overall it's pretty interesting. As a Baltimore native, I'm surprised to see how much connection/interaction there was with New York and the Ohio groups.

Julius “The Lord” Salsbury was Meyer Lansky's man in Baltimore. He was Baltimore's "kingpin of gambling" and one of the city's best bookmakers, Salsbury operated his empire from a basement office of the Oasis Nite Club, at Frederick and Baltimore streets.

Luigi Morici (1896-1971) was a soldier in the Gambino family. Sources are Frank Corbi’s FBI file, and the Mafia book. This member became the leader of a Family Regime in Baltimore, Maryland. The date of his arrival in America is unknown, but he had a gun conviction in Italy. He came from Palermo, the hometown of most of the Families early leadership. He was possibly sent to Baltimore, by Frank Scalici, to organize the local Italian underworld. Gathering together a few fellow Sicilians, he began to dominate gambling and other rackets. Several arrests followed. When the Family membership expanded in the 1950’s, he became a Capo and recruited local Calabrian’s into his crew. By now Scalici had become Under-Boss, so Morici’s NYC contact was Joseph Gallo. Ill health forced his retirement in 1958, with Frank Corbi succeeding him. Died in 1971.
