You could be right on that. Martino is specifically named re the November ceremony, but I think he's also the Richie brought up in the Cirelli bug as being proposed with the January group. I don't have a copy of the Gotti Tapes to check. Maybe he was pushed off to November?

Riccardo Cefalu is the father of member Dominick Cefalu. I'd be curious what the story is on Domenico Cefalu's father. Are the Cefalus related to any other known mafiosi (either in the US or Sicily)?

The 2010 indictment of Gaetano Napoli Sr. and his sons Thomas and Gaetano Jr. (kind of strange he named one son the Americanized version of Gaetano) claimed that he represented Sicilian mafioso (or associate?) Roberto Settineri in a Florida sitdown with the Colombo family. Felice has since said that Settineri is close with Frank Cali. Does anyone have more info on Napoli's association with other Gambino zips?

Felice also said Napoli was in the crew of Dominick Pizzonia and then Louis Mastrangelo, which is interesting. Was he placed in that crew to keep an eye on him or was there some other reason Napoli ended up with that group?

Great info in this topic.

There was a Filippo Ricupa, b 1947 who lived in Brooklyn, a non made associate, who gave testimony against this faction in the late 1980s. Interesting because his cooperation is not that well known. Felice, do you have any details?

Something else about the Gambino brothers:

- Phil Leonetti testified that Scarfo told him at one point pre-1983 that John Gambino was a Cosa Nostra member, then in 1983 he was formally introduced to John Gambino as a member by Trenton Gambino member Nicky Russo. This was at a sitdown in Atlantic City. Side note, but Russo seems to have been key to making introductions between Gambino and Philly members (he also introduced Gravano to Johnny Keyes Simone).

- Nicky Scarfo told Leonetti that in the 1970s, Angelo Bruno introduced him to Rosario Gambino as a Cosa Nostra member. Because of this, both Scarfo and Leonetti believed that Rosario was a member of American Cosa Nostra, but learned at the early 1986 meeting with John Gotti that Gambino was actually a member of the Sicilian mafia. We know that Angelo Bruno recognized Sicilian mafia members based on what he has said about his trip to Sicily and the visit from his Sicilian cousin Calogero Sinatra, so seems Bruno kept this up with other Sicilian mafiosi through the 1970s.

- This is probably already known on here, but Rosario's son Tommy Gambino was partners with Donnie Shacks Montemarano in a business that installed payphones in bars, clubs, and restaurants in LA.

- The question I have is when Rosario and John Gambino were made. LE at one point believed that all three brothers were made in Sicily before coming here but I don't think there's any info that points to John/Joe having dual membership. Rosario was deported from the US in 1962 at age 20 and returned sometime within the next 7 years. He was apparently made by some point in the 1970s, so seems possible he was made in Sicily sometime before he returned to the US in the 1960s. JD, have you ever seen any info about John Gambino being inducted in the Gambino family? Would have been pre-1983 for sure based on Leonetti's testimony.

As far as sources of information go it definitely carries more weight than the street talk garbage we get from these low-grade picasso clones.

Amen. That crap is really annoying.

there were 3 Napoli brothers, they were from Villabate and they were very close to Salvatore Montalto underboss of Salvatore Inzerillo.
All of them were living in Brooklyn, Antonino, the oldest, was very close to the Gambinos and the Caruana-Cuntrera families, highly involved in narcotics traffick. Gaetano was close to his eldest brother. Vincenzo was more indipendent, he used to associate himself to the Lucchese family who even tried to make him but the Gambinos refused because they considered Vincenzo to be their thing because of his brothers.
last info I had about Antonino was that he was back in sicily but very old and retired. now he could be dead since he would be 91

Ricupa was a barber who used to sell heroin for some sicilians, nothing more than a dealer, his main suppliers were Salvatore Di Maggio and Filippo Ragusa

Thanks for the details Felice. Sounds like Ricupa was not a big player.

I was wondering, is it possible that Giuseppe Gambino, the one who was killed by the Oliveris in 1988, was a made member of John Gambino´s crew? I remember reading that the killing of Francesco Oliveri was in retribution for him killing a made guy.
