I don't think he was convicted of 20 murders. I know he was not guilty on testa and flowers was overturned. I can't recall which murders were included in his rico conviction maybe someone else can help on this
He was charged with 14 murders, as well as attempted murders that I don't know the exact number on, as well as other RICO charges. He and everyone else on trial with him were convicted of all the charges.
So he was no Sonny Franzese after all... I thought he would live to see freedom and in this case a legitimate question could have been posed, whether he would be just a broken old man or would have tried to keep some of his old promises to never forget etc. If somebody is capable of thinking, they can order a hit even at 100 years of age. Scarfo was nuts after all, like Casso or others similar. Maybe not as nuts as Mad Sam DeStefano, but still...
Speaking of writing Scarfo there was a guy on the old RD that wrote him and got a response. But I fear it is lost forever as RD is down or gone and the guy died. He posted the letter on there years back.

For those whose didn't get the reference this was how Nick Caramandi described Scarfo in on of the Philly docs.
Pogo
It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

Remember reading about that. Never saw the actual letter, but supposedly one of the quotes were him still talking about hoping to live to see Leonetti die and such.

That is such PR bullshit. Scarfo Sr hasn't had any power to pull off a hit from behind bars since 1990. Total horseshit. Leonetti could have moved to Margate 20yrs ago if he wanted to.

Yeah he got his son the sentence, had nothing to do with Scarfo Jr huh?
Silly remark
The only reason Scarfo Jr is even in the life is because of his father. FACT. His father was using him from behind bars. There is a reason he was shot in 1989. Had his father not been using him as a proxy he never would have been shot. Then he goes and get him made into the Lucchese family which also going to get him hurt or killed. Fact Scarfo Jr was in harms way when he was demoted from Capo. The new Capo's son is buddys with Joey Merlino. Why do you think Scarfo Jr immediately asked to move to FL during the same meeting he was bumped down. He knew it. You think Merlino just became buddys with Lil Joe out of circumstance? Yeah Scarfo Jr had a choice but SR sucked him in at an early age. The Blame goes to the father. Scarfo JR is better off in jail ...he is safer there. JR sent all that money to Amuso from First Plus for what? They used him. Amuso couldn't protect him any longer. Jig was up for him in NJ.

I think this is questionable.
Scarfo jnr was a made guy. Clipping a made guy in another family is a HUGE deal.
Christ remember the Tore/Patsy situation. That was just a punch.
Or Cirillo Jnr.
You're talking about clipping him.
He was getting squeezed out of all resources. By the time he was picked up by the feds it was just him and his cousin. He was all alone. Him and Merola were no longer friends and Merola was trash talking him to everyone. He was getting no respect in North Jersey and that is why the kid moved down to Atlantic County. When he attended the making ceremony in Toms River at Lil Joes place his only friend their was Marty...but that wasn't an honest friend. Marty kissed up to him when he got out of the can because Scarfo was acting Capo and he was playing him like a fiddle goin to NY behind his back...same thing he did to Ralph when he was bumped up.
Was Merlino jockeying to squeeze Scarfo Jr out ..absolutely. Did he have the power to influence the Panel in NY to Clip JR. No I don't think so. But he was absolutely in Lil Joe's ear about JR everytime they hung out.

His other son broke away, Scarfo Jr had the same opportunity to do so. Come on, the guy loved the fast and easy money. Pretty sure the whole fraud thing was not Scarfo Sr's idea.

I have the Real Deal letter from Scarfo. I'll post it when I get a minute.
It's funny as hell. Mostly it's him thanking mafioso (the poster who wrote him) for not talking about religion.
