On topic, I think Giancana may have been an informant, but I think I'm in too early of an era, than you other guys are talking.

Paul Ricca once opened his mouth.

"On April 28, 1970, Ricca was rolled into the courtroom in a wheelchair, dressed in his pajamas and bathrobe because he was recovering from fractured pelvis. He was asked if he ever associated with Jackie Cerone and his testimony was needed to confirm that Cerone and Bombacino, a bookie and a rat at the moment, knew each other. Ricca had first-hand knowledge about the connection between Cerone and Bombacino but at first he didn’t say a thing by taking the Fifth Amendment. In fact, Bombacino personally met with Cerone and Ricca. Ricca knew Bombacino because Bombacino's brother used to make dietetic pastries for the boss. But later the government used the same strategy, which was used also on Giancana several years ago, with the help of Chief Judge William Campbell who forced Ricca to admit his associations under a grant of immunity.

Now Ricca had two choices, one choice was by keeping his mouth shut and of to prison, or talk his way out of it and break the “omerta”, or the Mafia’s code of silence. Now the whole organization was clearly mad at Bombacino, but they were mostly mad at Cerone for implicating the boss of the Chicago mob. I believe that it was decided by Accardo and Alex that Ricca should answer only the questions regarding his “normal” associations with Cerone. And that’s what the old man did. He was asked more than hundred questions by the prosecutors, on which he mostly gave shady answers but he managed to confirm Bombacino’s testimony about his meeting with Cerone at a restaurant in Harwood Heights, Illinois. In fact, Ricca admitted that he was present during Cerone conversation with Bombacino regarding gambling matters. And so the prosecutors were satisfied because Ricca’s testimony was the key part in sending all of the defendants to prison on May 9, 1970."

Villain got the correct answer. It was Paul Ricca and his testimony helped send Jack Cerone to prison.

What happened to the belief of there being a family secrets 2?

I can see no nose being accused of being a rat just bc he wasnt indicted. And i believe that calabrese even gave info on hin as well.

So, Accardo and Alex gave the okay for Ricca to talk or answer some questions? And the end result was Cerone going to jail?

Well, then I'd say Accardo, Alex and Ricca are all guilty in aiding the government against one of their own.

No talking means no talking, it's not complicated.

Ricca was the boss, not Accardo or Alex. He didn't need to ask their permission. He was either talking, or going to jail for contempt. He was in his mid-seventies with failing health. Obviously, he didn't try to intentionally implicate Cerone but the prosecutors just did a good job of making him talk himself into a corner.

As i previously said that Ricca was too big for Cerone and his health was slowly failing,so a jail term would've been same as death sentence for the old boss. Plus Cerone was a guy known for showing a lot of blind loyalty towards the old bosses, Ricca and Accardo, so maybe thats the explanation for this case also.

Similar thing happened to Nitti but he took his life instead of facing a jail term, or in other words he fucked the Outfit's top administration because after that they all went to jail

As another poster wrote, there wasn't enough evidence to substantiate what Calabrese said. Some people have suspected that DiFronzo was a "dry snitch," but beyond suspicion there's no evidence for it.

Pogo The Clown wrote:In all seriousness though it wouldn't surprise me in the least if Accardo gave up some info to stay out of prison. It looks very suspicious that every top guy around him (Aiuppa, Cerrone, Battaglia, Carlisi, Aldersio, Alex, DiFronzo, Lombardo, LaPietra, etc) ends up in prison and he doesn't even get indicted in an era where every top guy in the country is going down.
