Is Bobby Salerno alive? I know he got released early, still not sure why...he wasn't supposed to be released until 2024. Think he was released in 2018.
I hadn't heard that he died but if he were alive he would have celebrated his 85th birthday last month.

Yeah, I'm fairly certain we would have heard he passed. But also strange that he was released early. Usually thats reserved for compassionate release.

Bobby has been out since 2017. I heard Bobby's son Alex Salerno his son died recently - he was an attorney for the Outfit (and Jeffry Dahmer), but also got caught up being their front for investing in indian casinos in Wisconsin and Michigan. Bobby's grandson - also named Bobby - is doing 22 years for murder as well.

The younger Bobby Salerno was convicted of murder and robbing a suburban gun store in 2006. He got into a fight at a bowling alley in Crest Hill and opened fire with one of the stolen pistols, inadvertently killing his friend James Micucci. Is it a sure thing he was the grandson of Bobby the Boxer? The articles I've seen note him as Robert Salerno Jr, and from what it seems his father was a Robert Salerno Sr who was not Bobby the Boxer.

Are you talking past, present, or both?
Past. I'd like to start from the beginning of their cooperation if there ever was one.
FWIW another earlier Chicago Sicilian linked to narcotics was Nick DeJohn (per Alson Smith in "Syndicate City").

I'm almost positive that's his grandson. He was represented by Patrick Tuite - who represented Aiuppa and Infelise - that guy doesn't work for anyone and would run circles around Joe Lopez.

https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct- ... story.html

On an unrelated note, Tuite took Michael Corbitt and Sam Giancana Jr. to court over libel for mentioning his name in his book - all the way to the Supreme Court - and won.

Yes Tuite would be pretty indicative that the kid was connected. But then who was this Robert Salerno Sr who was his dad? Was he one of Bobby the Boxer's sons, and this kid is really Bobby III?

Salerno was convicted of extortion prior to the big Ferriola Street Crew case in 1990 (I believe it was 1986). I believe that he may have already been imprisoned for this or had just gotten out when the indictments in the Ferriola case were handed down. It could be that Salerno's role in the conspiracy predated November 1, 1987 (or, the government had no recent evidence that he contributed to the operations of the street crew between his release on the extortion case and his indictment in the Ferriola case). Federal inmates convicted of crimes committed prior to November 1, 1987 are still considered for parole, so it could be that Salerno was released in that way. Infelise, DeLaurentis, Marino, etc. were all proven to have participated in Ferriola Street Crew activity after 11/1/1987 and were thus not eligible for parole. This is also how Carmine Persico still had parole hearings years after his conviction. For the most part, current federal inmates must complete their entire sentence, which can be slightly reduced by "good behavior." A judge can also grant release on medical issues but this typically hasn't worked for mafia guys.

I'm no attorney, so this is as good of a solution as I can provide.

Yeah, that makes sense. Wonder where he's living these days.

Was never sure if that Bobby Jr, was related. Looks like he was released by the feds, guessing he's finishing his time with the IL DOC. Inmate locator is down right now though. Had no idea that Alex defended Jeffery Dahmer, crazy.

Btw, was going through some things...Vince Forliano has connections with Rainone and Giannone as well. He was busted with both in separate schemes.

He did a few years ago.

Jeffrey Dahmer was tried in Wisconsin and Gerald Boyle was his defense attorney so I don't know about Salerno defending him unless he worked on his defense team in some supporting role.
