How many made members do you think are in the Corozzo crew?

That's correct. I believe he got close to Corozzo in prison where Joe V was doing time for bookmaking. His father was a bookmaker with the Gambino's in North Jersey decades ago I believe. Joe V had been involved in Bookmaking since he was in his late teens. When he gets out and he is with the Gambino's he gets popped with the kilos that he was doing on the sneak behind Corozzo's back. Flips right away because the of the time he was looking. He had priors for drugs and gambling. I believe it was the DEA that busted him and the brought in the FBI when he Joe V let the DEA know who he was with and what he could offer. In the long run Joe V moving Coke on the sneak was a good move on his part. 1) He was able to keep all the $$ without giving any to Corozzo. 2) If he got caught he could easily be wired up without anyone being suspicious. Joe V was a pretty calculating guy. He basically went into the wind. I've have heard rumors that he was living in Laguna Beach to Lighthouse Pt FL. Who knows? He aint in Staten Island....

I think in all fairness, I should explain to you exactly what it is that I do. For instance tomorrow morning I’ll get up nice and early, take a walk down over to the bank and… walk in and see and, uh… if you don’t have my money for me, I’ll… crack your fuckin’ head wide-open in front of everybody in the bank. And just about the time that I’m comin’ out of jail, hopefully, you’ll be coming out of your coma. And guess what? I’ll split your fuckin’ head open again. ‘Cause I’m fuckin’ stupid. I don’t give a fuck about jail. That’s my business. That’s what I do.

Question about this, demoted as not a Capo or not as an Acting Boss? Wasn't sure what was accurate or not.

Something else, if someone is acting as a boss or at any of the top three levels or even a capo for that matter, if acting, then replaced with someone more capable or ready but not there at the moment for any various reasons, is that person who was acting really demoted?

All depends.

If a guy is just acting whilst the official is doing a stint inside, when the official is released and assumes duties the acting isn't said to be demoted.

Or if the acting is on a rotation process Eg A panel, different capos take turns etc.

But if the acting is serving in a 'permanent' position (like Cali as 'Acting' Boss for one-eye) and is then pulled down by the Capos, then yes, you can consider that a demotion.

Thanks Sonny...

I just haven't been paying attention to this Cali, so, he was acting boss for one-eye, Peter Gotti? Man...I just assumed that the Gotti's were just way out of it by now, like no connections inter-linked through anyone except those that were not really in the Gotti camp or loyalists to begin with. Just shows how far tentacles can go, not that PG was pulling any strings but that there was "just" a connection at all.

Capeci said Peter Gotti is boss in name only, has no say.

Tommy is correct.
Cali 'acting' for PG is somewhat a misleading statement. But technically PG is still official.

The Gambinos have somewhat of a complex admin with a panel AND an acting boss.
The specifics of the power arrangement between the 'two' positions is a little unclear as to Cali's power/role/responsibility vs the panels.

Probably Cali takes care of the day to day with the Panel presiding over the major decisions of the family.

From what I remember it is the opposite. According to Capeci the panel acts as an extra layer between the street and the administration.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

Then how was Cali (supposedly) pulled down?

If the ultimate power resided with Cali he cannot have been demoted.
