Pennisi's latest podcast on Kirk Douglas' son in prison being attacked by orders of Vic is quite interesting. Would assume a guy like Kirk Douglas given his father would know a few guys himself around NYC or would at minimum, invest in keeping his son protected in prison.

I like all of JP's podcasts - but the Big John one was petty. He likes to complain about wash women and gossip bullshit - sorry that's all he does on these podcasts sometimes - especially that one. Another gangster thug harping on about 'honor' - give me a break just tell stories about real guys and your audience will continue to grow. No one gives a shit about who you find 'honorable.'

Besides when it came to things like the Christmas money, I get the feeling that Big John treated some of his crew members more like personal friends, especially guys like Pennisi, who he sponsored into the family. It sounds like Big John probably felt like he was a lot closer with Pennisi than Pennisi did with him, and could drop certain formalities and let loose in front of him and some of his other guys.

It should just be normal for any adult human to not act like a degenerate scumbag in general, but It would get exhausting in LCN to be mindful of every written and unwritten rule that Pennisi always mentions, 24/7 in every interaction you have with everybody. Seems like Big John just let loose in front of guys and dropped some of the tip-toeing formalities. Does Pennisi or anyone else think that Big John would say something about a random lady's tits in front of Steven Crea, or in front of a member of another crew that he didn't know?

I'd bet that Pennisi probably had no issue with this type of ball busting back when it was happening, but because of his situation and whatever ended up happening between him and Big John, he can double back on it and nitpick it for examples on Big John not being a good gangster.

Not even in the military where people are into actual rules and structure more than Pennisi is, are they "on" 24 hours a day. Even those guys drop it and let loose when they can get away with it.

I love Pennisi's content and all the info he's given over the years, but sometimes when it comes to a couple of his former crew members that he was close with, he'll really stretch it to make them sound worse than they probably were

Yea that last story Pennisi said about patting big John on the back a little too hard in front of other guys was weak too.

I can’t recall any specific examples but I have read about situations where made guys have beef with each other and instead of making beefs about it, they challenged the other made guy in private to go outside or into another room to settle it as men.

Our interpretation of Pennisi’s feelings seem that he did nothing for that to happen.Whatever it was that we are speculating about doesn’t seem to be major since he was called back into the family.Butch Arpino told him through a text that “They made a big mistake” and that they wanted him back (they meaning Mikey DeSantis)
