Tom Cafaro who lives in FL

Lives in Boca?

Got pinched in the early 200o's washing money?

I can't find a picture or I'd post it.

I believe you and I might be, lets just say, referring to the same person. I'm not sure yet. If so, he's definitely in the SoFla "cooperative"

I don’t know anything outside of him being caught on tape in Fl talking mob gossip w Rubeo . Yeah he was busted for washing $ from what I read . I was always curious if he is still active and wish we asked Rubeo when we had the chance

Don’t know who Ruben is. I found a photo of Cafaro. Can’t say if he’s up to anything, but he’s around. Boca I think. I’ve seen him in Broward at a couple of places. Socially. Never spoke to him, and don’t know anything else. Probably wouldn’t recognize him if I saw him in another couple of months. I don’t remember stuff for too long.

New haven rumor is since anthony died all the bookmaking action goes to eddie who also now works with eugene and his crew. Everyone just works together lately. Pie getting smaller. Independent bookies been getting squeezed. Wouldnt be surprised another bookmaking case comes down. Happens every ten or so. Were just about there since the last one

IMO there is likely far less LE as FL doesn’t have the State Or City OC task forces NY and NJ have so it makes sense to play the numbers game and do a lot of meets in FL

Also given it’s open territory it’s very easy to open a bar or cafe and do big booking business with little LE heat and not to mention all kinds of health care scams, check cashing/ port , construction and Weed business.

One has to think there are a bunch of crews still active in the sports and probably drug business
As far as crews go, it depends on what you mean. Whether we're talking crews based there or NY crews active in Florida, the Ruggiero crew (Genovese) was busted in 2006, the Artuso crew (Gambino) in 2008, the Chilli crew (Bonanno) in 2005 and 2009, and the Maragni crew (Colombo) in 2011. As I've said, there has been a major drop-off in cases since afterward.

I haven't really seen anything regarding the ports in Miami since 2005. You still see the bookmaking networks extending down there from the Northeast, at least to a degree. The LCN has a fair amount of legitimate investments there. And you do see scams (healthcare, check-cashing) from time to time. But the pace and scope slowing is undeniable. You're seeing the same decrease in the mob's footprint in Florida that we've seen in Connecticut, Springfield, etc.

If people want want to believe there are a still a bunch of crews in the state, there's little info to base that on right now. And if they want to declare it as fact, they better be able to tell everyone what crews, who's running them, what they're involved in - and most of all - how exactly they came by this information.

We love and respect you, we don't want to steamroll you. Trust me, how many people do you talk about this subject with IRL? You get to shoot the shit with others with interest in the subject and while we disagree, we are all honest. Perhaps I can even arrange a call between you and Michael DiLeonardo and Sal Mangiamelli and you can ask a former Gambino Capodecina and a Gambino associate whatever you want. If that's something youd' be interested in I'll try and broker it. As for us mafia nerds- Rick, B., Tony, kiduknow, Cheech, we delve into other topics, its very informal. Consider it, amico nos, you're one of us. Even though you're from Joe the Boss' side.

Don't want to give out your number, go to google voice and register an anonymous one for free. You're busy with a family, most of us are, you schedule a day/time and we'll all be flexible. Seriously, it'll be fun. You don't need to come heavy.

Given some of the sentences we have seen lately I don’t see most of these guys doing more than a couple years (1-3) except Balsamo. Two prior convictions he is probably looking at the longest sentence

They all plead guilty and all probably get under 5 years. That's the Genovese way... 5 years or less

These are state charges so I bet they serve under 1 year behind bars. Total waste IMO but I accept LE POV that with today’s jury environment, slowing big crews down and draining their resources is all they have left and has some logic. LE should be forced to disclose the investigation costs when they bring an indictment. The transparency would force LE to allocate funds better.

These are federal charges witch is why the US attorney is involved. If it were state the states attorney or DA would be announcing
