Gene definitely took a beating from the Colombos
Re: Who's the current boss of Colombo Family?
I think people usually just compare the colombos to the other 4 families thats why the colombos seem so pathetic. But in actuality if you compare them to other groups in new york like gangs or even other families like Philly and Chicago they are levels above. Its like the scenario of the worst quarterback in the NFL is still better than the best collage quarterback.People are just constantly comparing the colombos to the westside and the gambinos because they share the same pool.I know philly and chicago have a lot of fanboys but realistically if these 2 were equal to the colombos they would of been much more powerful possibly like how they were in the 80s.Wiseguy wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 12:52 pmPeople were saying the Colombos would be gone in a decade 30 years ago. It didn't happen then and it won't happen 10 years from now.Momo wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 7:49 am I was reading Q&A with Gene Borello and he said something like ''Colombos don't even have a boss'', I can not recall the exact sentence at the moment.
I know they are small family compare to other 4 families but I would never guessed that they don't have a boss, never crossed my mind. If they don't have a boss right now, they are basically a street gang, right? I'm sure they will disappear in a decade unless a miracle happens. I doubt they will interfere with other families because why would a boss wants a guy they don't know in his family ?
BTW: Is there a current chart of Colombos?
If you look at the ages for all the families, 70's is prime age for a NY mob guy. The Genovese family probably has the oldest membership on average and that hasn't stopped them from being the strongest.Momo wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 10:52 amThanks eboli. I was suprised at first when I saw the list because I've never thought they could have 40-50 soldiers but then I saw the ages of them and most of them are old, really old. I doubt +75 years olds are actice, though.eboli wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 7:58 am They most likely have a boss or a group of people sitting on a panel. It's a miracle they are still around after Persico's long reign, though. Pogo keeps an updated chart based on the latest official info we have access to. viewtopic.php?f=32&t=36
Great list Pogo!

Also Colombos are also known as being more violent
That does appeal to the younger generation as shown in above post

John Pennisi has also said that Salvatore Cambria was "acting street boss" in 2014

Where are they getting all these younger guys? I did some street view research of Bensonhurst and Bath Beach and most storefronts and people walking were Chinese. Isn’t this in their stronghold? How many youngsters reared on the streets can there be?
Re: Who's the current boss of Colombo Family?
"Younger guys" in Brooklyn are probably just relatives of current mobsters, but there are still little pockets of street kids left, maybe they live on Staten Island but hang out in Brooklyn. I don't like in NY but this is based on what I know of the area, so correct me if I'm wrong. Certainly isn't what it used to be, by any stretch of the imagination. I can imagine blood family is the biggest recruitment pool for younger guys now.

Angelo Spata is related to the persicos. The persicos all have money. Theres a few guys in the colombos who arent related to juniorAntComello wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 1:09 pm A good one to follow is Angelo Spata’s kid. Fuckin kid bad basically goes back and forth from Cali to Florida running his father and his rental company. They got private jets, any high end car you could imagine and millions dollar yachts. Kind of blows my mind if you really think about how much money these things cost.

The last decent neighborhoods for Italians in Brooklyn are Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Bergen Beach, Mill Basin, Marine Park. You still have some Italians in Bensonhurst, Bath Beach & Gravesend but the gooks, mexicans and russians have by and large displaced the Italian community in those neighborhoods.
Queens still has a few good neighborhoods like Howard Beach, Whitestone, Ridgewood, Breezy, Bayside, Rego Park and I’m sure others I can’t think of.
Staten Island has Italians all along the South Shore and a smaller amount on the North Shore.
Being a Brooklyn guy I only travel to the Bronx for 2 things.....Yankee games and to take my kids to the zoo so I’m somewhat unfamiliar but I know we still have Throggs Neck, Pelham Bay, Edgewater, Country Club and maybe more.
Lots of Italians across Long Island and I can’t say Manhattan has a single Italian neighborhood anymore but you do have some Italians living there.

Grew up in the Bronx and have been living in BK a few years now, I gotta say Bensonhurst reminds me of Canal Street during its real heyday, Asians on the street everywhere selling stuff. Can barely walk on the sidwalk, also too much congestion, etc. Was on my way to Ceasar's bay to drop off a return at Best Buy during the holidays, I cant tell you the number of junkies/homeless circling the park on Cropsey Ave reminds me of how bad things were in the City during the early/mid 90s before things started getting cleaned up.johnny_scootch wrote: ↑Thu Feb 25, 2021 7:36 amThe last decent neighborhoods for Italians in Brooklyn are Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Bergen Beach, Mill Basin, Marine Park. Fuck the city! They waited until the neighborhood went to shit then threw millions into a park renovation because we gotta have a nice spot for the chinese to do tai chi at the crack of down. Funny tho that the old porn theater on bath ave is now a mosque.

I havent been to 8th Ave but am not surprised. I dont really go past 65th, occasionally 60th but am always usually on Fort Hamilton Parkway as my old real estate broker had an office between McKinley park and Leif Ericson park. Sunset park is generally a shitshow (too much going on, people on the street garbage, etc), we went to Industry City the other day did some ice skating etc which was nice. That freaking Costco over there legit had like 300 people online waiting to go inside, ridiculous.johnny_scootch wrote: ↑Thu Feb 25, 2021 3:42 pmYeah it's pretty bad but have you been down 8th Ave in the past few years?? anywhere from 60 st down to 40 st it's like the fucking wuhan wet market for 20 blocks!Dapper_Don wrote: ↑Thu Feb 25, 2021 12:37 pmGrew up in the Bronx and have been living in BK a few years now, I gotta say Bensonhurst reminds me of Canal Street during its real heyday, Asians on the street everywhere selling stuff.
