I thought they were half Irish and that it was the Flemmi brothers who were fully Italian

Haha I thought the FLemmi were 1/2 and both were Winter Hill. Salemme were 1/2 and were both LCN. And martomramos were split. Interesting 3 sets of brothers.

Thanks Mike and I thought that their mom was believed to be Irish.

What do people make of this article about Howie Winter? https://www.telegram.com/story/news/sta ... 601831007/

Also how about this article about the race fixing scam? https://www.usbets.com/whitey-bulger-horse-racing/ it mentions organized crime figures such as Lefty Rosenthal and that Fat Tony Salerno gave his permission to get the scheme off and running in Vegas

Correct. Their father was Angelo Martorano, born in 1906 in Riesi, Caltanissetta (a town with a strong mafia tradition, though it seems to have produced few members in the US), while their mother was Elizabeth Hunt, who was born in MA to parents from England who were of at least partial Irish ancestry.

Worth noting here that Colombo captain Sebastiano “Buster” Aloi was Riesi and his family immigrated to Boston, where Buster Aloi seems to have lived until he married his wife Rosa Griffo (parents from San Cipirello) around 1931 and moved to Brooklyn. Aloi’s relatives all seem to have remained in MA, so they may well have known the Martoranos (Buster was born in 1907, so an age peer of Angelo Martorano).

How about this video about Sebastian Buster Aloi? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dJCpj1rOVY it looks like he was a mentor of Sonny Franzeze.
