Right I remember that.. pure speculation on my part it’s just with all of the DeVita relatives/relationships in the union I figure DeVita must have sway with this crew and Depiro.JohnnyS wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 8:28 amHe did. IIRC DeVita runs what is left of the old Gerardo crew, which I think has few members left living. Given that and the fact that Devita’s crew members are in the union, his ties to Newark, Cernades etc maybe these crews merged at some point. I have no clue, just trying to piece together what I remember reading on the boards over the years.

Yeah we’ve had relatively little on the Westside Jersey makeup for around a decade. I’d love a modern breakdown of the crews/members etc.moneyman wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 11:38 amRight I remember that.. pure speculation on my part it’s just with all of the DeVita relatives/relationships in the union I figure DeVita must have sway with this crew and Depiro.JohnnyS wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 8:28 amHe did. We have DeVita, DePiro (love to know members/crew sizes) We have the Bruschi crew, who’s taken that over? The Dente crew (his son took over??) and Daniel Pagano has interests/crew in Jersey (is he jersey based??)?
Am I missing anyone?
It’s a mess to yours.

No mention of Tino's crew but keep in mind that DePiro wasnt just indicted as a soldier in 2011 he was also confirmed as a soldier in 2015. Here's my take, I think you're onto something with the crews merging after Fiumara's death because DePiro and obviously Michael Coppola were having legal troubles there was nobody who was willing or capable to take over they possibly merged the crew with DeVita's. Since DePiro was released and free he's been given the crew back.State authorities said three captains control New Jersey for the Genovese family: Angelo M. Prisco runs the Jersey City and Bayonne waterfront; Ocean County resident Ludwig "Ninny" Bruschi, who awaits trial on a 2003 racketeering charge, controls Northern New Jersey and Silvio DeVita controls the Newark area.

Think this is bullshit. Prisco was given life in 09 and died early 2017. HIGHLY doubt he was running Jersey city in 2016. And it doesn’t mention Fuimara either. So I’d take that quote with a huge grain of salt.JohnnyS wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 11:54 am This is from 2016.

The article was from 2016 but it was quoting information from a 2004 report so some of the info was dated.

it could be tbh but my take on moneyman's theory was more based on DePiro being indicted as a soldier in 2011 and still confirmed as a soldier in 2015. He was still described as a soldier in 2018. http://www.wcnyh.gov/newspage298.htmlSonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 12:00 pmThink this is bullshit. I could be wrong here but if I remember correctly Capeci said DePiro succeeded Fiumara in running the waterfront he did not say he succeeded him as capo.JohnnyS wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 12:19 pmit could be tbh but my take on moneyman's theory was more based on DePiro being indicted as a soldier in 2011 and still confirmed as a soldier in 2015. Yeah I remember that being a debate because of how it was worded but going by today's GL I think he did mean he succeeded Tino as a captain.johnny_scootch wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 12:45 pmI could be wrong here but if I remember correctly Capeci said DePiro succeeded Fiumara in running the waterfront he did not say he succeeded him as capo.JohnnyS wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 12:19 pmit could be tbh but my take on moneyman's theory was more based on DePiro being indicted as a soldier in 2011 and still confirmed as a soldier in 2015. Re: GL NEWS 9/17/20
Thanks for posting. Finally a decent GL. That's a good pic of Silv. Genovese family has had control over every President of local 1235 since its beginning almost. They even had their guy in control of all the locals of the country back in the 60s. Johnny Leonardis. I believe his son or nephew Tommy later became Local President but got jammed up in that 2005 indictment with DePiro and Mikey Cigars. I believe they had a wire tap of Coppola (who was a fugitive) and The Bulls son. Good stuff.I think Coppola gets out in almost exactly 3yrs. He will be 77yrs old.
Re: GL NEWS 9/17/20
I believe he was in charge running the rackets within local 1235 at one time. I don't remember LE every actually saying he was acting capo etc. I would imagine that Coppola takes over that crew when he gets out. He was Tino's right hand man for decades. There are also other Sr made members of that crew that are older then DePiro like Queli. But who knows? He could be acting capo! Wiseguys from other crews and families get their relative's trucking companies in the port..im sure there is a fee for that! Book making and loansharking is still big down there. There are so many Hispanic workers at the port. Soccer season is huge im sure ! loljohnny_scootch wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 12:45 pmI could be wrong here but if I remember correctly Capeci said DePiro succeeded Fiumara in running the waterfront he did not say he succeeded him as capo.JohnnyS wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 12:19 pmit could be tbh but my take on moneyman's theory was more based on DePiro being indicted as a soldier in 2011 and still confirmed as a soldier in 2015. Re: GL NEWS 9/17/20
Yes exactly. The Coppola point you bring up is interesting, I hadn't thought of that. Overall Devita seems like a good candidate to oversee things after Coppola stuff goes down. Besides Dentico, I don't think there is a more senior NJ guy.JohnnyS wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 12:19 pmit could be tbh but my take on moneyman's theory was more based on DePiro being indicted as a soldier in 2011 and still confirmed as a soldier in 2015. Before reading this I thought Devita was pretty much retired given his age and lack of recent information on him. Makes you think if Dentico is still active, that would be something.
Wasn't Persico forced to live in NJ for legal reasons? The NJ Genovese waterfront stuff is super interesting. I've always thought their reputation as the strongest family is in large part due to how long they've dominated NJ based rackets. I think I read in one of the big Philly threads that this dates back to when Caponigro forfeited or gave the Genovese some of his rackets.

Great gangland and nice to see a piture of De Vita, think I`ve just seen one of him before
Re: GL NEWS 9/17/20
I agree there. Once Prisco was convicted and given life he wasn't running Bayonne. Prisco was brought in from the Bronx . He had no long standing ties with anyone in NJ. The Longshoreman union crew was supposedly being run by Pepe till he got sick. I would imagine if that rackets in Bayonne didn't fizzle out..its being run by someone who was associated with Pepe. To me it seemed like the crew Prisco was running when he got busted was not really affiliated with Bayonne. That Bayonne crew that Pepe has been with all these decades was really originated with DiGilio. And after DiGilio got killed . The guys that killed him..were his strong arm guys.. Auricchio, George(ex bayonne cop) and his son inlaw etc These guys died or went away for like 30yrs. Pepe was formally in the Union way back in the day till he was kicked out ..then he continued to run it thru associates and relatives of made guys who were members much like Tino's crew continues to do.SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 12:00 pmThink this is bullshit.
