The dog story is truly an all-time classic. In Gasper Valenti's testimony he confirmed Asaro was an "animal lover". One of the most misanthropic wiseguys who hated everyone but absolutely loved dogs. You can't help but like Asaro for that. They weren't even his dogs but because they belonged to his nephew and Zuccaro he insisted they were 50% his.

What's funny too is even though Massino wouldn't give Asaro permission to hurt Zuccaro over the dog, from that point on Asaro was constantly scheming to destroy Zuccaro's reputation and get him in trouble for other things.

That's more or less my take on it as well.

The relationship to Bonomo was in line w/ mafia tradition -- tough street kid is put on record with an elder member born in Castellammare, doesn't have to kick up any money, does small routine favors for the member and occasionally carries out acts of violence or intimidation, Bonomo in turn representing / advocating for him and mentoring him. Sal Vitale is another source who said Bonanno members and associates weren't required to kick up money. I know in other testimony Zuccaro said one time Bonomo asked him about a score he had pulled and he wondered if Bonomo was asking for a piece of it but ultimately Bonomo didn't ask and Zuccaro never gave him anything from it. I assume Bonomo just wanted to be aware of Zuccaro's involvement because members are supposed to know everything their associate is doing.

Then he is released to the Gambinos against his will and immediately he's getting needled over relatively minor drug debts he's apparently not even responsible for and at the mercy of low-lives like Charles Carneglia who punish him by spreading rumors. He said he genuinely wanted to be made by the Bonannos but then turned it down when the Gambinos offered. It's funny because his problems with the Gambinos were the reason he was originally put on record with the Bonannos in the first place.

- When Zuccaro was in jail in 2005, he learned from John Burke and Tony Green Urso that Charles Carneglia was spreading rumors that Zuccaro was a rat. He claims Carneglia had previously done this to others, including Kevin McMahon, and that Carneglia's motivation in this case was from the old $30,000 Zuccaro never completely paid. Zuccaro attempted to clear his name but nobody would help him and it's this accusation that ultimately led to his cooperation.

Just to add to Zuccaro's happening's with the Gambino's during this time frame was info pertaining to the Gus Boulis murder in Florida. The Feds first learned of Big Tony Moscatiello's involvement in 2005, when Zuccaro told authorities that Moscatiello had offered him $100,000 to kill Boulis. Zuccaro turned down the offer, but the hit was carried out by another New Yorker, John Gurino, who as mentioned was killed two years later. Gurino's closeness to the Gotti's was displayed at Gotti Sr's final trial, when he was one of 7 demonstrators arrested for the mini-riot outside the courthouse. Gurino first came into the Gotti orbit when he went on trial for murder in 1984 and his then unknown defense lawyer Bruce Cutler earned him an acquittal, and a spot in Gotti Sr's defense lineup.
Great information, Mr. Belding. I would be interested in seeing Zuccaro's testimony in the Gambino trial, as this one was obviously tailored around Asaro and the Bonannos.

I had never heard of John "JJ" Gurino before Zuccaro mentioned him as a proposed member. I know nothing about the Gurinos except a couple of them have been members of the modern Gambino and they go way back with the Bergin crew. The name came up frequently in the Asaro trial, including a wake for a Rose Gurino which was attended by mafia members.

Even in Ozone Park, where it seems every mafia figure was a violent career criminal, the Bergin crew had a reputation for treachery according to witnesses like Zuccaro and Valenti.
anthony and cesar gurino are brothers who owned arc plumbing where Gotti was supposedly a salesman. they all grew up together.
both made Anthony whp [assed was on the ruiling panel at one point.
there is another anthony not involved that ran or still runs Tahoe development and conwstruction. he is brothers with angelo gurino. real jerk off type in his 50s selling pills. dont know if hes made but hes with the Gambos. his son got busted with him. their is a ton of gurinos younger. all grew up with silver spoons and are too stupid to avoid low level street shit. other than cesars son anthony who went to college and is an actor. legit dude.
jj or john was i think anthony and angelos brother but i could be wrong. full time gangster got killed trying to collect an a debt. had many bodes himself supposedly. the others are all rackateeers but not tough guys themselves.

Peter grew thousands of pounds of weed but taught me a philosophy to only sell retail $20 bags to make the real money . He paid his sellers envelopes every Friday like a real business instead of selling them there own pounds . He is one of the most underrated people talked about on these forums . He made millions. He married Cindy de Bernardo ( yes the Dib) from Sammy's book as well and moved from ozone park to Hewlett harbor in the house db raised his family. Complete sociopath as well. Also only person I met who could do heroin occasionally and not get physically addicted and act like a junkie

It's interesting about arc they had quite a few silent partners too..in 1999 I had a good friend named fat Jonny. Real name Jon aufiero. Nice kid , never disrespected me but he ended up murdering a local Jewish guy on Oceanside long island over a weed deal gone bad. It was crazy. I sware we watched so many gangster movies we were actually all carrying guns and robbing each other. The interesting part is fat Jonny was arrested within 24hrs as this wasn't bath ave , when a body dropped the whole town got turned upside down . Again back to the interesting part it was all over local and mainstream media and they kept saying police are pretty sure organized crime had nothing to do with it and fat Jonnie acted alone. I was already obsessed with all things mob by them so I had to do some research to find out why they kept bringing up organized crime, it turns out fat jonnies father was a fellow shareholder in arc plumbing I had to use micro fishe to solve this one. Google Jon Kane murder long island for anyone interested but since then I've had respect for the people that dig deep not these u tube guys except rj and maybe 1 or 2 more. I truly feel I can out debate the entitled stick up canarsie on any topic. I like nadu so I won't pick on him but he wouldn't stand a chance with me either . I love u guys thanks for letting me find a safe place to post
