Riina wanted to be sure they were in the Usa, that's all. Naimo was not controlling their activities, they only had to have a physical presence in the Usa and to show up if Naimo was asking to see them.

This is amazing information, great stuff!
If I read correctly, some people are suggested this can be tied to Rizzuto in Montreal, at some point. That doesn’t necessarily sound crazy!!

This guy flipped? So much for that old school sicilian BS.felice wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2020 2:16 am Around 1975 Paul Castellano was becoming the boss of the Gambino family but he had to face another side of the family (Dellacroce), fearing a mob war could start he asked for help to sicilian mobsters.
In those weeks Antonio Geraci, powerful boss of Partinico was in NYC for health matters, Castellano asked for a meeting which was organized by Rosario Naimo.
Castellano normally was very rude but in that occasion he was very pleasant with Geraci, he said that in NY area there were many sicilians who were uncontrolled and that they needed to be part of a family, he said there was a commission decision that every family could make 10 sicilian mobsters, the Bonanno, Gambino, Lucchese families took advantage of it immediately, many sicilians refused getting made in NY, like Naimo, because they were prefering to be indipendent. (Naimo was lated made in the Lucchese)
According to Naimo Castellano was only looking for more street guys since his loyal men were getting old to face the young generation like the Gotti's.
Castellano made several guys because he needed shooters and violent guys around. Looks like that a major concern of some sicilians about getting made in NY was to get attention from fbi because they would have known it ("americans are too much talkative") so there were some secret ceremonies only for sicilians like the one for the Inzerillos, Pietro, Salvatore and Antonio.
Castellano made clear in that meeting that the sicilians should have been banned from drug trafficking and counterfeit money. (lol)
based on the collaboration of Rosario Naimo

The informant sounds like either a Gallo or Dellacroce loyalist.... Its not completely off, but not totally right either... kinda reminds me of DiLeonardo describing the family politics of his era.... there's always a slight slant to informants...don-shunter wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2020 6:34 amGood point. I thought it was debunked that Neil and Paul could of had a violent fallout if both wanted the boss position. I thought Carlo had picked Paul as new boss and that was it as long as Neil remained underboss.Eline2015 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2020 6:14 am Some how does not fit with that

You are saying they sent Naimo to America, just to make sure the Inzerillos were in NY, not say, South America or somewhere else? They probably had people in NY who could watch them....
Re: Paul Castellano and Nenè Geraci meeting
Naimo was already living in the Usa. Riina just wanted to be sure they couldn't get back to Italy and hide somewhere to plan a revenge.

I'm assuming Naimo cane over same time period as the rest? Like 63-66ish? Or earlier?
Re: Paul Castellano and Nenè Geraci meeting
I am not sure but if I remember correctly it was in the early 70s. Naimo was already described as one of the most violent and feared mafia members in Palermo when he left

Really? I've always been intrigued by the guy..... funny how him and Brusca ended up rats.
In that book Octopus, it says on page 305-306..
"Not only had the families survived, but they were busier and richer than ever, though their status had changed.
Once the overlords they were plainly Luciano Leggios vassals now.
" You dont move a leaf if they dont know about it in Corleone", said Guiseppe Gambino at the Cafe Giardino to a visitor just in from Palermo.
" They're running the show; everything co.es from Corleone", the visitor agreed....

HANG IT UP NICKY. ITS TIME TO GO HOME.
Re: Paul Castellano and Nenè Geraci meeting
So this was separate from the 1976 inductions that brought in many of the Americanized guys. I would expect some of the guys you mentioned were already members in Sicily, so these secret ceremonies would more likely be transfers and not inductions. You shared something about a Sicilian mafia member transferring to NYC under the guidance of Giuseppe Gambino in recent years and we know this was common in earlier days.
I saw an FBI report received from Italian authorities which listed some new arrivals from Sicily, including some familiar names but it seemed to suggest Antonino Inzerillo, Antonino Napoli, and others were already Sicilian mafia members now living in the US. We know they joined the Gambino family one way or another.
Did Naimo say anything about how he became a Lucchese member, i.e. did he have a ceremony or when did that happen? I don't remember any of the other Lucchese informants identifying him as a member.
Thanks for the info.

Re: Paul Castellano and Nenè Geraci meeting
I wonder if Naimo was with the Lucchese family due to their historical ties/origins to Corleone? They didn’t seem to have many other zips, but I think their consigliere Mariano Macaluso’s family was originally from Corleone. And he was consig until the mid/late 80s, right?
Or, maybe Naimo was with the Lukes simply to spread out the Sicilians amongst more families, distribute their power.
