I wasn't sure if this should be it's own thread.

Now Franzese is claiming he was going to be the Acting Boss.... How valid is this?

Re: Chin and Franzese
Tv and movies often have characters that are composites of several real people.
Anyhow, this show feels like overkill. I know the movie about Bumpy in the 90s with Laurence Fishburn was a different era but this doesn't seem like it's doing anything that that one didn't.

Glick told author Nicholas Pileggi that he expected to meet a banker-type individual, but instead, he found Alvin Baron to be a gruff, tough-talking cigar-chomping Teamster who greeted him with, “What the fuck do you want?”
Re: Chin and Franzese
And that one was total revisionist history. Unless you believe Bumpy sat on the Commission and lot of other nonsense. The only good thing about that movie was Tim Roth as Dutch Schultz.Grouchy Sinatra wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 2:17 pm Tv and movies often have characters that are composites of several real people.

I don't care. I'm capable of separating art from history. I'm of the understanding that all tv shows and movies stray from the facts. What I meant is that Godfather of Harlem isn't presenting any entertainment quality exceeding, or really even matching imo, that of the Laurence Fishburn movie. Overkill mob genre tv.Wiseguy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 4:21 pmbrAnd that one was total revisionist history. Unless you believe Bumpy sat on the Commission and lot of other nonsense. Re: Chin and Franzese
That's what I figured. His story keeps changing with all these interviews.
Re: Chin and Franzese
This clariflication by this bukyack Gina is even more fantastical than the fucking show.
There was a parade when Bumpy got out of prison? The fuck out a here. Bumpy was'nt the first or last shine to work with the mob. Mob was working fag joints all over Manhattan. That tells you there color blind when it comes to money. Johnson was'nt nobody special. Ken Eto in chicago was more involved with the outfit than Johnson was with ny families. And there was no fucking turf war between schultz and the blacks and s%$c policy kings. He took OVER. They was gonna wack that lady and she hed for the hills. This lady writing the article is going by the clarence williams movie who played bud hewlet. The fuck out a here.

ZERO dealings as partners or associates. Making bumpy johnson out to be an associate of the genovese family is like making nicky barnes an associate of the lucchesi family. I guy you sell junk to is not an associate. A guy is a customer. The end. If bumpy johnson operated in harlem without friction by cosa nostra its because he either made money for somebody who kicked up the dough to his boss and so on. or he was operating a caper or more, like drug and the daily that you really didnt have to deal with the mob over. Other than to respect the boundarys. By the 1960s you don't gotta go to the italians to score dope. The spanish had that market as well and who everyone in the drug biz had ties to. Shit is coming in from cuba mexico porto rico. This guy is in the can most a his life. The fuck the mob need bumpy johnson for? These kids are making shit up

At the place I live a lady that works here (jazmin) put it on for me. I only seen 3 episodes. But thats enough for me. It aint the harlem I remember I tell ya that much. The ONLY thing that resonates with me is the kid playing adam clayton powell. Kids got em down to a t. REAL poverty pimper that rev. powell. if you think sharpton is bad powell and that cock sucker father divine made rev. al look like pope john paul. Real greaseballs ya know? real slimey. They took more money out a harlem than any jew. And they loved the fucks. The whole mudshark angle. Chin running harlem. Costello still being a political fixer in 63. I know its supposed to be just entertainment. I just cant get into it. This show for me is like they having a show where general patton is the captain of the star trek. And has ray beams coming out a his eyes. Thats what I see. Bunch a queers writing this show.Bklyn21 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 8:37 amI know the show is all wrong .Yeah , Costello mentoring Gigante throughout ? Lol.. Amd most of the other shit never happened but as far as action and drama I love it ! I wouldn't watch it at first , I binged watched it all in 2 or 3 days and I was the same way , I wouldn't watch it because the whole thing was all wrong and BS but hey I got the flu and got really sick and watched every episode. I still lmao at alot of shit in the show and SMH bit plotwise, Drama, Action it did the jobJIGGS wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 9:14 pmIts all bullshit. The show I mean. I seen the show. I seen it. episodes 1 - 2 & 3. They got Paul cicero portraying a character named "Costello." If that's supposed to be the boss a all bosses prime minister then the show writers are really kooky. I seen footage a John Fitzgerald Kennedy. The real chin giganti was in the can when the irish took over the white house. I don't think chin ever stepped foot in harlem as a made guy. Real funny that they got him as a cariocature of fat tony and based on pleasant avenue. It should be Hollywood a lister John Malkovich portraying "benny squint" on the small screen. Not chin donofrio playing giganti. The kid playing adam clayton powell is a dead ringer for adam clayton powell. Great choice there. The rest is some fantastical landscape. Bumpy had zero to do with anything below 125 st. Lower harlem was the spanish with the sons a italy on the east side. North harlem was the blacks, virgin island people, cubans on the west side. Big dick buster was a real life hitter who worked for fat tony and enforced the 2 block rule. On the show hes in bumpy's crew. They got some skeefuza playing a mudshark that's supposed to be the daughter of the chin. Whats that about???Bklyn21 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 2:26 pmAll I know is the show is great ! I do know that Chin and Vito Genovese were big into the Dope business . I don't know about Bumpy and the Chin ? In the Series they hate each other and they're both at war with one anotherAmershire_Ed wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2019 8:58 am Michael Franzese just did an interview and he was pushing back on the accuracy of the portrayal of Chin Gigante in the Netflix series “Godfather of Harlem”. I haven’t seen the show but apparently it makes it seem like Chin was in the drug business with Bumpy Johnson. Franzese said that was completely false and that it was more than likely the Bonannos that worked with Bumpy.
But then he started talking about his own relationship wth Chin. He didn’t know him personally at first but he was good friends with Fritzy Giovanelli. Franzese told Fritzy that he was having some problems with Junior and the gas business. Then a few days later Fritzy called him and said Chin wanted to meet him. Franzese said he went over to Houston St in Greenwich Village and had a walk and talk with Chin, who was in his bathrobe, unshaven with messy hair. He said it was well known that Chin did not like Junior at the time, and when they were talking Chin offered to bring him over to the Genovese Family. Franzese said although it was pretty rare for guys to switch families, that Chin was the most powerful boss in the country at the time and no one was going to really tell Chin he couldn’t do something.
I usually take a lot of what Franzese says with a grain of salt, but I dunno about this one.

You got me dying over here ! Like I said I binged watched it , I wouldn't watch it at all but I gave in . I'm like it's almost 2020 everything is fucked up and they make a mockery of everything . These people today either forget what used to go on or they don't care , And the Younger generation I have no clue what goes on in theyre minds , But Its entertainment and like everything else it'll only continue and you'll have real Morons who believe it allJIGGS wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 5:42 pmThis clariflication by this bukyack Gina is even more fantastical than the fucking show.

Franzese is an unreliable narrator these days. He's hustling more now than when he was still in the mob.

Do you think he’s faking the whole “born again Christian” thing he’s got going? He’s seemed much less sincere about it the last few interviews I’ve seen. I know the speaking gigs he gets probably keep the bills paid.

You're right! Why not say this type of stuff before now? All of a sudden he's now offered the bosses chair and that he was on the Persico side in the war.

Re: Chin and Franzese
For all the money he made and the feds let him keep some of it he has nothing on John Rossati who is still intact and worth around half a billion . He can talk all the crap he wants about the Forbes list and Richest savviest gangster ever and Gold plated helicopters and now he was gonna be boss ...lol .. Where's all that cash now ?Amershire_Ed wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 6:53 pmDo you think he’s faking the whole “born again Christian” thing he’s got going?
